Tourist attractions in Chiang Mai (video)
This video gives a good idea of what you can see or do as a tourist in Chiang Mai and environment.
Chiang Mai, 700 kilometers from Bangkok, is the main city in the north. It is also the capital of the mountainous province of the same name. Many Thais and tourists go to Chiang Mai (the Rose of the North) for its unusual festivals, 14th-century temples, beautiful landscapes, unusual food and pleasantly cool climate in winter. The hill tribes contribute to the special and colorful character of Chiang Mai and the surrounding area.
How to get to Chiang Mai
Chiang Mai is easy to reach from Bangkok. Buses depart regularly for the ten-hour journey from Bangkok's northern bus station on Kamphaeng Phet 2 Road. The Thai railways have a daily connection from Hualampong in Bangkok, even with a fairly comfortable sleeper train. Various budget airlines maintain the connection between Bangkok and Chiang Mai, often at relatively low prices.
