Nightlife in Bangkok (video)

The nightlife in Thailand is famous and notorious. Anyone who has traveled around the globe can attest to it, almost nowhere in the world can you do so extensively go out as in Bangkok, Pattaya and Phuket. Of course a large part of the entertainment industry revolves around sex, yet there is also plenty to do for tourists who do not come for that. The many bars with live music, excellent restaurants, discotheques, beach parties and shopping centers are good examples of this.
In this video you will see footage of the more infamous side of Bangkok nightlife, such as Self Cowboy en Nan Plaza. For less gritty work, Hanrahans, a popular Irish pub on Soi 4 Nana, is recommended. No freelancers or bargirls here, so you can have a drink undisturbed. You can eat excellent western food and you get very large portions.
Gulliver's bar in Soi 5 is also fine. The bar has a nice interior and the inevitable pool tables. You can watch sports games there. The service of the staff is a bit less.
Soi Cowboy is especially striking because of the many neon lights and looks like a fairground. Nana Plaza is a bit more subdued, but here too it is clear what it is all about. Take a look if you've never been there. Just observing is a costly entertainment in itself.

Video dates back 7 years and the name of the Irish Pub on Sukhumvit Soi 4 has since changed to Fitzgeralds, but still a good and relaxed place to people watch undisturbed.
