A nice day out, especially for children, is a visit to the Bung Chawak Aquarium inside Suphan Buri about 160 kilometers northwest of Bangkok.
Tourists and other enthusiasts can enjoy here a large aquarium, a zoo, a recreation zone with organic farms and a rice mill.
A must-see is the Bung Chawak Aquarium, featuring freshwater and saltwater fish from around the world. The aquarium opened in February 1998 as a project in honor of the Thai king. In three buildings you can view more than 100 species of freshwater and marine fish from Thailand and other countries. The highlight is a 400 m3 aquarium, with an 8.5 m long transparent tunnel, where divers feed the fish four times a day.
Furthermore, a visit to a crocodile pond of three rai is worthwhile. There live 100 freshwater crocodiles, ranging from 1,5 m to 4 m in length. The Wildlife and Plant's Management and Development Center is also fun to visit. This is a kind of zoo with, among other things, a 25 m high aviary, tigers and lions, waterfowl, Siamese Hearthstone pheasants and rare birds. But you will also find giraffes, ostriches, zebras and camels.
The Bung Chawak Aquarium is open from Monday to Friday from 08:30-17:00. On weekends and public holidays from 08:30-18:00 8:30-17:00.
Bung Chawak is indeed recommended, there is also a beautiful botanical garden. By the way, Suphan Buri province has a lot to offer. Fortunately, it has so far been free from foreign tourism, but it is very popular with the Thais and Ba'nkokians.
True, very expensive but worth it. And you are busy for a few hours. There is a relaxation room with a leather rest sofa and you look at a very large aquarium with pink jellyfish yellievis and with HIFI soothing music. And then you could also enter the aquarium with a diving suit. If I get the opportunity again, I want to experience it again. I am already starting to save some money. Greetings Jo-Han
The shark tunnel is the largest in the world, I believe. Significantly larger than Siam Ocean Orld and many times cheaper. Surprisingly not mentioned in this article.
Last week my Thai wife and I each paid Tbt 150 entrance fee. However, the official entrance fees for the large aquarium are:
for adult: tbt 150 (Thai) or tbt 200 (non-Thai)
for children: TBT 50 (Thai) or TBT 100 (non-Thai).
