They are beautiful to see, the bright colors and large wings and also fun to go to with children: the Butterfly Garden in Bangkok.

You don't have to worry about seeing a display case with dead butterflies with difficult Latin names underneath. You enter a beautiful garden with rockeries, immense shady ferns, wild flowers and a cooling waterfall - the 'natural' habitat of butterflies and other insects. You will find special species of butterflies such as the Golden Birdwing, Siam Tree Nymph and the Giant Silkworm Butterfly, which flutter by unnoticed. Make sure you have your camera ready. You can follow the fascinating life cycle of these colorful insects on various displays.

Three beautiful parks

If you are tired of the crowds of the nearby Chatuchak Weekend Market, then I have good news. Just around the corner from the market, you can find three beautiful parks. Cross Chatuchack Park and turn right past the front of the market and then turn left at Kampaengphet IV Road. Between the Queen Sirikit Gardens and Rotfai Gardens, a special attraction is the Butterfly Garden and Insectarium of Bangkok.

Queen Sirikit garden

The Queen Sirikit garden is also a beautiful botanical garden with brightly colored flower beds and old shady trees. The names of the flowers are listed in English, Thai and Latin. Wild flowers and an enchanting landscape of gardens with covered benches, ponds and mazes can be found here. Perfect for a fun-filled day of butterfly spotting, picnicking or cycling through the extensive gardens. Bicycles can be rented for about 30 baht. You can literally get lost, so make sure to bring a bottle of drinking water and sunscreen.

Just before the carona outbreak, certainly more than worth it to enjoy these beautiful parks in peace. At the exit with the famous street food stalls with delicious roasted chicken and Papaya salad and cold water.

I've been there in May and it's definitely worth it. Not very big but nice to sit quietly and watch the different large and small but beautifully colored butterflies.
Then walk through the park to the Chatuchak Market and then you have a nice day full.
With the kids, is also located in a very nice park.
