During a travel to Thailand I was able to enjoy the beautiful green landscape in the province of Sisaket (Isaan). The town of Nong Ya Lat where I stayed is fairly close to the Cambodian border.

An excellent opportunity to admire a special temple with my own eyes, namely the 'Wat Pa Maha Chedi Kaew' also known as 'The Beer Bottles Temple' or the 'The Temple of a Million Bottles' in Khun Han town.

The complex consists of 20 buildings, all built with recycled beer bottles. You will find prayer rooms, a crematorium, bungalows for the monks, a water tower, toilets for tourists and a temple. Even the Buddha mosaics are made of bottle caps. It is estimated that 1,5 million beer bottles were used for this special temple complex.

I first visited the temple 18 years ago. I also call the temple the temple of millions of bottles or Wat laan laan kwuat. The temple is definitely worth a visit and I plan to visit it again soon.

Yes, a nice complex is located 15 kilometers from my house and nearby is a beautiful resort Pong Sin Resort owned by a Dutch / Thai couple John and Jing Revet http://www.pongsinresort.com

In the immediate vicinity are also the Khao Pra Wihan National Park and some beautiful waterfalls.

A beautiful sight, which, due to the fact that people in Thailand do not know the principle of a deposit on beer bottles, is also built from extremely cheap building materials.
