Pattaya, but different: Wang Sam Sien Park
Many people will no doubt Pattaya know. But I think some places in Pattaya will not be visited very often.
Everyone knows the big letters “Pattaya” on the coast. Beautifully lit in changing colors at night. These letters can be admired up close in a relatively easy way. Only then will you get an impression of the size. About 10 meters high. From that point one also has a magnificent view of the ups and downs of Pattaya.
As the crow flies, only 500 m from the large maintenance yard, it is pleasantly quiet and peaceful at this height. The Pattaya letters are on the edge of a very beautiful park where you can walk, trim or possibly drive by car. Visitors are surprised by beautiful groups of sculptures, scattered throughout the park.
Wang Sam Sien Park
A second recommendation is that it is nearby Wang Sam See park to visit. A park with a number of figures from Chinese history and folk art. Near the entrance there is the large white statue of the deity Mercy, called Guanyin. There is also a large bell on the left, which was built after the example of the large bell in the royal palace in Beijing in China from the Ming Dynasty (990 kg !).
In the park there are various figures and statues that tell the Chinese history and how the old Chinese dynasty came to power. Statues of Lao Tzu and Confucius with their life philosophies can be admired here. Touching is the wall with 24 paintings on which good deeds are told, which children did for their parents (respect). The explanation is in Chinese, Thai and English.
How do you get there?
From Thepprasitroad turn right onto Thapprayaroad. At the first set of traffic lights, turn left onto Pratamnak Road. Continue until a large (obscure) intersection of five roads. The second left towards Cliff hotel, at about that height turn right into the park, to the letters Pattaya. At the same intersection turn sharp right towards Big Buddha, but before Big Buddha turn left into Wang Sam Sienpark. This Buddha is the largest in Chonburi province, 18 m. high and built in 1977, also known as the Luang Pho Yai.

Indeed a beautiful park I go cycling there every now and then you can drive through it in different ways with a few nasty slopes and descents.
I also come there very often. A beautiful quiet area and a relief from busy Pattaya. I often combine it by having a drink and or something to eat nearby at the extreme point at the lighthouse.
Unfortunately, that restaurant at the Lighthouse has not been there for quite some time. Closed and nothing has replaced it. Must have been illegal.
Best regards. Bz
This is a reposted post. (2013)
A restaurant has also been demolished on the left, which was no longer allowed by the "government".
In another posting I have given a description of the “Pattaya Letters”.
The orange plates that make up the letters are illuminated by floodlights.
Thousands of LED lights have been installed around these plates (height 10 meters x width 1,35 metres), which cause the changing colours. These are electronically controlled.
Probably the most photographed figurehead of Pattaya.
