10 years Thailandblog: Traffic(d)
Participating in traffic in Thailand is an experience. Which, by the way, is not without danger. Although traffic in this country drives on the left, it is not always and certainly not everywhere.
Bankok Post: Killers on Thai roads
Road users who drive drunk and cause fatal collisions are killers, according to the Bangkok Post.
Pattaya Nua Road again less traffic friendly
Now that Terminal 21 has been completed and the necessary peace has returned to the Pattaya Nua (North) Road, this will, as far as we know, be temporary.
On my months-long motorcycle holiday in Thailand and the surrounding countryside, the extremely lousy traffic behavior sometimes starts to annoy me. You are vulnerable on a motorcycle!
Many Thai people wrongly think that children do not have to wear a helmet on a motorcycle
Many Thai people do not know that children also have to wear a helmet on a motorbike, they wrongly think that children are exempt. Only monks and priests are exempt from wearing helmets under Thai law.
Another contribution about the traffic here, but just like about the Thai women and the delicious food, you can't stop talking about it…
A prospect in the event of too much alcohol on the road
Recently I was arrested for having a little too much booze. It often happens to me that I have knocked back a few drinks too many, but with an alcohol check I usually save myself with extra money.
Thai logic is almost impossible to grasp
Sometimes Thai logic cannot be followed. Has it been thought through, or is it just silliness, thoughtless or just plain laziness? The list can be easily supplemented. The consequences will almost certainly cause deaths and injuries in Thai traffic.
Thailand has the most road fatalities in Asean
Thailand has the most road fatalities in ASEAN, according to the WHO's Global Status Report on Road Safety, published Friday.
Bangkok is threatening to completely silt up. The traffic supply causes hours of traffic jams every day. To ease the pain, the government has decided to move five military bases from Bangkok.
Blind spots in Thailand
On a wall of about five hundred meters is painted at least fifty times the request of the municipal council in Hua Hin not to feed the monkeys. Almost every day, Thais come with big bags and throw bananas and pineapples on the sidewalk in front of the wall. What the monkeys don't eat falls prey to pigeons and other vermin. The monkeys are just as ungovernable as the feeding Thai. They (the monkeys) hang on cables for electricity, internet and telephone. Almost every day, technicians come to repair the broken cables, a job with a future…
The Thai authorities warn drivers that their insurance will not pay if they drive under the influence.
Living in a big city like Bangkok is probably even less healthy than you already knew. A recent study shows that epigenetic changes (changes in the DNA) can already be observed in the blood if a person is exposed to exhaust fumes for two hours. These changes are associated with various diseases.
The smog in the capital has now reached a dangerous level in many places. The concentrations of particulate matter (PM2,5) have risen far above the safety limit of 50 mg per cubic meter of air.
Bingo in traffic
This morning on my way to a number of activities I saw several traffic problems within half an hour. The first, near my house, a driver had managed to drive around a piece of wall from a resort. His car had become half a piece shorter, which of course makes a difference with parking. Presumably instead of looking at the road too deep into the glass!
Life as Bos in Thailand (2): The Thai is not a master of traffic
Admittedly, some farang also make a mess of it in Thai traffic. Away from the European home front with sometimes stifling rules, they behave like cowboys on the road in Thailand. But the average Thai beats everything on the road.
Thai police will crack down on drunk drivers
The Thai police, through Commissioner Srivara Rangsipramanakul, has announced that the police will take tough action against alcohol consumption. Police officers who fail to ticket drunk drivers are themselves punished.
