Buying a house in Thailand and construction appraisal report
Just like with the reader question of June 24, 2020, I am also looking for a reliable address in Pattaya to have a structural appraisal carried out on an existing house that I want to buy.
I am in the process of purchasing an existing home in the Jomtien/Pattaya area. In the book 'Living and buying in Thailand' written by PL Gillissen it is stated that by means of a structural inspection one can avoid a lot of trouble due to unexpected (hidden) defects. However, it is also mentioned that a complete architectural valuation report (full structural survey) is not common in Thailand.
Together with my former Thai husband, I had a house built in 2006, which must be appraised in order to arrive at a division. This house is located in Ban Dung in the province of Udon Thani. Because selling is no longer an option, my ex gives some cooperation and does not provide the correct documents for the land, the value of the house must be appraised.
