The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has adjusted the travel advice for Thailand yesterday: From November 2017, smoking on popular beaches in Thailand is punishable. In addition, the use and import of electronic cigarettes (and refills) is prohibited in Thailand.

From the start of the high season on November 1, smoking is prohibited on a number of Thai beaches. The Thai government will apply strict sanctions in line with already existing regulations, with violators of the smoking ban risking up to a year in prison or a fine of up to 100.000 baht.

We are real beach lovers, but we don't feel like crowds of tourists. We especially enjoy the peace. Are there still beaches in the south of Thailand that are fairly unspoilt and without ugly buildings?
