Bangkok as a springboard
The blood crawls where it can't go and so the travel jitters show up again. Normally I leave beautiful Europe in September for one month and at the beginning of January I flee the country -because of the winter- and then enjoy a beautiful spring again at the beginning of April in a good mood. Have a kind of love-hate relationship with Thailand; nice people but not my ideal nor most beautiful country to live in. But that aside because something like this is a very personal thing for everyone.
An anniversary
Suddenly it just popped into my mind; I have been visiting Thailand twice a year for 25 years. Assume that when I arrive at Suvarnabhumi Airport next month, traditionally in September, there will be a delegation of government officials and the TAT (Tourism Authority of Thailand) ready to welcome me.
This summer, the Royal Netherlands Marechaussee at Schiphol will carry out extra checks on adults traveling with children, in order to prevent kidnappings. Traveling makes you a happy person, or not!
I wanted to write a little story about how traveling, whether for a holiday or not, contributes to someone's feeling of happiness. I read the reason for this thought in an article about a study by an American psychologist, who claimed that traveling contributes more to your feeling of happiness than material things.
The Dutch are going on holiday again

Reader question: I travel alone to the south of Thailand, who has tips?
I am planning to travel alone to the south of Thailand in early 2016 (January 12 to March 3). I am 70 years old and especially love nature and tranquility, no bouk-ke-bouk.
Turntable Bangkok
Thailand and especially the capital Bangkok is a fantastic 'hub' to look across the border and broaden your horizon. From the metropolis of Bangkok you can use a number of low budget airlines to visit a number of neighboring countries. Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam and Malaysia are what you call next door.
Foreign languages while traveling
One of the nicest things when you stay abroad is and always will be the language.
