To be precise, it is twenty-four years ago that I visited the border town with Burma, Mae Sam Laep, exactly 46 kilometers away from Mae Sariang. Two years ago I did it again with a good friend and this year my girlfriend and partner persuaded me to also want to experience the beautiful stories that had come to my attention.

More than twenty years ago I visited Mae Sam Laep, a small town about 50 kilometers from Mae Sariang. This small border town is located on the Salween River, which forms the border between Thailand and Burma over a distance of 120 kilometers. In twenty years, things have changed.
