Just an update. I went to the clinic again and asked for the names of the medicines that the doctor had prescribed for me. This did not go without a fight, the doctor had to give permission first. They also wanted nothing to do with the recommended 24-hour urine test. The discontinued drugs Metformin and Irbesartan on his advice were replaced by Glipizide and Sodamint.
