Thailand is introducing an entry ban for travelers from eight South African countries, where a new Covid-19 mutation has been found. According to the Department of Disease Control, no infections with the new variant have been detected in Thailand so far.

The health situation in Thailand has deteriorated to such an extent that the EU member states decided on July 14 to remove the country from the list of countries for which the EU entry ban can be lifted in order to protect public health in the EU. In the Netherlands, the entry ban for travelers with permanent residence in Thailand will take effect again from 22 July 2021 (00:01 a.m.).

CCSA lists groups of foreigners who can return to Thailand
Foreigners who have been living in Thailand for a long time and foreigners with a permanent residence in Thailand, who are stranded abroad, are given priority when returning. So says the head of the Center for Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSA).
Good morning, I'm Zara and I'm 17 years old. I will be 18 in November, my plan is/was to go backpacking through Thailand afterwards. Unfortunately, it remains to be seen how the measures regarding Corona will develop by then. Is it even possible and a good idea to go…? If Thailand is not accessible, are there similar (alternative) travel destinations that people have good experiences with?
The ban on international commercial flights will remain in place as long as the Covid-19 pandemic remains uncontrolled in many countries, the Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand (CAAT) said. According to CAAT director Chula Sukmanop, it is an indefinite ban.
Does anyone know of a petition that would have been started for a forgotten group of tourists? And by that I mean, people who have a loved one in Thailand and who now have to miss each other for many months. The Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand (CAAT) has lifted its entry ban on four groups of foreigners, in line with the relaxation of travel restrictions previously announced by the Center for Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSA).

Reader Submission: Back to Thailand, what is needed (2)
Since it is not entirely clear to many what is needed, but especially the order of how to act. Here is the e-mail I received after the first contact from the Thai embassy in the Netherlands with the attachment and the telephone number plus extension number to make the appointment.
My question is: do people here already have experience with the 'case by case' assessment of applications to re-enter Thailand?
I have had a girlfriend in Thailand for more than 10 years, together we have a 3,5 year old son. I haven't seen them since February. What are my options for flying to them?
CCSA spokesperson Taweesilp made some statements about the sixth phase of lockdown easing yesterday. It is very likely that 5 groups of foreigners are allowed to re-enter Thailand. The Thai government will make a decision on this on Tuesday.
Very nice that Thais are allowed to travel to the Netherlands again. My girlfriend has a multiple entry Schengen visa and can therefore board the plane to Schiphol in no time. But the big question is how will she get back? So far there are only repatriation flights for Thai stranded abroad. You also have to arrange a lot for that, all hassle and asking permission at the Thai embassy, health certificates and I don't know what else.
The Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand (CAAT) has announced that the entry ban for international passenger flights will expire on July 1. That means commercial flights to Thailand are allowed again.
