Recently, many reports have appeared that foreigners are being arrested in Thailand for, among other things, exceeding the visa or illegal activities. This mainly happened in the Pom Prab district of Bangkok.

The number of foreigners with an expired visa in Thailand has fallen sharply. Commissioner Surachate Hakparn, head of the Immigration Bureau even says that there are no longer any foreigners staying illegally in the country, but that seems mostly wishful thinking.

The tracing of foreigners who are staying illegally in Thailand is still in progress. Police have made 83 arrests in raids at 42 locations across the country. These include expired visas, misuse of student visas and illegal prostitution by women from Africa.

128 arrests were made this week in 99 places across the country, including Pattaya, Hat Yai and Koh Samui. This concerns both migrants from neighboring countries who work illegally in Thailand and foreigners with an expired visa. Most suspects come from Myanmar, Laos, India, Germany and a number of African countries.
