Bringing a cat to Koh Samui?
We also want to take our cat to Koh Samui, but we don't know what vaccinations she needs. Which are mandatory? And is an import license required? How did you get it? Does the cat also have to be quarantined?
Reader Submission: Dogs in Thailand
There is so much to tell about the relationship between dogs and people in Thailand that I hardly know where to start, but let me start with personal experiences.
With a pet in a hotel or condo in Thailand
Nam, a young woman who lives here in Pattaya and whom I have known for many years, has a new boyfriend. It's not her first boyfriend and certainly won't be the last, but for now the two are doing well. He works in Bangkok and rents a not cheap condo in the Asoke district. Nam has moved in with him and then occasionally comes to Pattaya for a special reason.
I am moving to Pattaya for at least 6 months. Does anyone know where in Pattaya or Jomtien there is a house for rent for 6 months where it is allowed to live with my cat?
Bringing a pet to Thailand (and back), is that possible?
Reader question: We want to take our dog (4 kg) with us when we go to Thailand for 4 to 5 months; rental house where animals are allowed. Then under our guidance. Q: Is that back-and-forth taking a pet to do (read: affordable)? Because he is Thai and has already entered the EU, he has both a Thai pet passport, a stack of papers with stamps, and a Dutch animal passport with valid vaccinations.
Rabies outbreak: Thailand has enough vaccines available
In an effort to reassure the public, the government has announced that it has enough vaccines in stock to vaccinate all 10 million dogs and cats in the country against rabies. So far, four people have died after a rabies infection.
About cows, calves and dogs
Black and white and red-and-white cows and calves as we know them in the Netherlands are very sporadically encountered in Thailand. Traveling through the country you will often see someone strolling around with a number of buffalo's in tow, looking for scarce food for his herd.
Buying a dog in Thailand
Here in Thailand we see that a dog's life is a dog's life. Which is actually incomprehensible, in a Buddhist country. A story about a dog.
Reader question: Wintering in Thailand and bringing a pet, whether or not to quarantine
We would like to spend the winter in Thailand for 2 or 3 months and take our cat with us, but the information on this blog about bringing pets sometimes seems contradictory. Some readers indicate that vaccinations, pet passport, chip, VWA inspection, Foreign Affairs form, Thai embassy form are of course necessary, but no quarantine and have experienced this in practice. Another reader refers to www.licg.nl and that site states that a 30-day quarantine is mandatory. What is it now?
Pets in Thailand spread rabies
Pets in Thailand are a major source of rabies because most are not vaccinated, the health ministry says. Rabies, also known as rabies, is caused by an infection with the rabies virus. Humans can become infected through a bite, scratch or lick from an infected animal. Infection in humans is fatal in many cases.
Are there people who recently left for Thailand with their pet(s) as special luggage or as air cargo? I will soon be leaving with KLM and Bangkok Airways from Amsterdam to Koh Samui with my cats, who are coming along as special luggage.
Reader Submission: Fees of Veterinarians in Thailand
I submitted this article in response to an article on Thailandblog, in which costs for a dog operation were mentioned. This cost would have been 50.000 Baht. I think this is incredibly high. But more importantly, I'm afraid that this price might put people off going to the vet and there's no need to.
Cats and dogs often have little or no meaning in the eyes of the Thai, except for the upper class who parade with these monstrosities at their countless social parties with a dog bought for a lot of money. Fortunately, for the many foreigners living in Thailand, cats and dogs do have a meaning.
Some animal hater has deposited his cat with 4 kittens in a box in a bush on the road where we walk every day. With this a call for cat lovers are there people who are interested in these pets?
Does anyone know a hotel or resort close to Suvarnabhumi Airport where a pet is allowed?

Flying with your pet to Thailand: KLM rules
When you leave for Thailand for a longer period of time, you may want to take your pet such as a cat or dog with you. The costs for this are generally reasonable.
