The number of reports to the Eurocross Emergency Center of a possible rabies infection rises every year. For example, the number of reports in 2017 was no less than 60 percent higher than the year before. This trend seems to continue this year as well. Most reports come from Indonesia, Thailand and Vietnam.
Early in the morning of May 26, it was very busy at the entrance of the shopping mall Market Village in Hua Hin. Many pickups drove back and forth to unload their precious cargo. Many imposing cages with even more imposing dogs, the so-called Pitbulls and the smaller Bullies, found a quiet place behind the big screen to await their performance.
Reader Submission: Snakes and Dogs
A snake in the garden in Thailand? Arend's dogs know what to do with it, even when it comes to a cobra.
Greetings from Isaan (10)
House Inquisitor has a problem. Sign. And they are more difficult to combat than you might think. It started quite innocently: during the daily brushing of the three dogs you regularly found an animal, but that gradually became more and more. Too much at one point, LinLin, the mother bitch of four years, has suddenly aged ten years in a short time.
I would like to know if anyone has traveled to Thailand with a prohibited dog breed such as an American Stafford (or pit bull). Through a Dutch organization I heard that it might be possible (only if he is neutered) if this is requested separately from the Thai authorities. The organization won't help me further because I don't want to fly it as cargo (which is their business activity) but in the hold, on the same flight as me.
About cows, calves and dogs
Black and white and red-and-white cows and calves as we know them in the Netherlands are very sporadically encountered in Thailand. Traveling through the country you will often see someone strolling around with a number of buffalo's in tow, looking for scarce food for his herd.
Buying a dog in Thailand
Here in Thailand we see that a dog's life is a dog's life. Which is actually incomprehensible, in a Buddhist country. A story about a dog.
Snake in the corner (video)
This video shows a snake in Thailand that is cornered by a pack of dogs attacking it. To be honest, I feel a little sorry for the snake.
In this remarkable video you see a motorbike driver who has clearly had a blow from the mill (as far as there are mills in Thailand). He has understood the helmet obligation well, but he does not want to accept that dogs do not belong on a motorbike.
The “dogs” in Isan
Every time I'm in Thailand I'm amazed at the way dogs live in the Isaan. I assume this is a model for the rest of Thailand.
After a call from a reader to pick up his dogs in Thailand, I responded. His two dogs were still at Schiphol (due to vaccination checks, etc.) and would arrive in Thailand on Tuesday. Well arranged because they arrived and we had to pick up the dogs at cargo.
Dry season in Isan – 4
It was a while ago, but some clouds have come in the blue sky. No, not the weather conditions, but 'Isaan problems'. Our dogs have become 'chicken packers'. Lin-Lin, the dam bitch, had done that before, but had forgotten how to do it.
The consideration of having me vaccinated against rabies
After years of hesitation, I finally took the plunge. I have been vaccinated against rabies. I cycle the same ten-kilometer round on my mountain bike every day, also because most dogs know me on this route.
Reader question: Importing dogs into Thailand
Who can tell me something about importing dogs to Thailand? For example, what are the current (2016) rules regarding quarantine. The intention is that the dogs will live there for 3 years.
Cats and dogs often have little or no meaning in the eyes of the Thai, except for the upper class who parade with these monstrosities at their countless social parties with a dog bought for a lot of money. Fortunately, for the many foreigners living in Thailand, cats and dogs do have a meaning.

Reader question: What do you do against (wild) dogs in Thailand?
I like to stroll along the streets/parks/gardens in Thailand. But, the problem I literally run into while roaming are the dogs (often those without an owner).
