My Thai girlfriend registered this week with the Municipal Personal Records Database in the Netherlands. However, her registration that she was also divorced was not taken into consideration, due to the fact that she was unable to show the original marriage document. This was not possible with only the divorce document, according to the civil registrar. There would be no other option than to collect this document in Thailand.
This year for the first time, we stay in Thailand without a home address in Holland (but postal address). We stay here for 6 to 7 months and then go back to Holland. We rent a house there. Once back in the Netherlands, we register again in the GBA, and so on and so forth. My SVB official was a bit difficult about that…!
Reader question: Can I change the address in the basic administration in the Netherlands?
My question is it possible to also change the address known to the Municipal Administration in the Netherlands?
Emigrated? Then you no longer exist for the Dutch government…
I occasionally check www.mijnoverheid.nl. As a real control freak, I went to 'my data' last week. To my horror, they are no longer correct.
Reader question: Is it possible to go to Thailand but not deregister in the Netherlands?
I have a variant on 'how long can you stay in Thailand without being deregistered?'
Research by the Social Insurance Bank shows that many allegedly uninsured against health insurance were incorrectly registered. These persons, usually expats or emigrants, have still been deregistered as uninsured.
Minister Piet Hein Donner of the Interior and Kingdom Relations is working on 'additional registration' for expats and emigrants. For example, the government wants to gain a better overview of who is leaving the Netherlands. Those who do not deregister according to the rules can expect a fine from 2013.
