I feel sorry for many Thai women. They are often portrayed as money wolves or a 'big spender'. Not always right in my eyes. Anyone who listens and is interested in the real story becomes sad.

Most Thais spend more money than they earn and even those who manage to get by with their money risk getting into financial trouble. This is evident from a poll by Abac among 2.764 people aged 18 and older in 12 provinces. The average income of the respondents is 11.300 baht per month; their personal expenses 9.197 baht. The main expense items are food (5.222 baht), transportation (3.790 baht) and entertainment, …

What happened to me recently falls under the heading of minor suffering. When, after exactly sixteen hours, it stopped raining for a while, but the electricity was still not working after six hours, so I hadn't been able to make coffee, I had to get out for a while. I drove to Pattaya and took some pictures of streets where the water was up to half a meter high. Then I went to a large department store to drink a cup of coffee. …

There is a lot going on in the monetary world. The euro is under pressure due to the weak economic performance and high debts of a number of countries within the European monetary union. Countries that do not have their household books in order and can hardly or cannot meet their obligations have to borrow money from other countries or from the European Central Bank. Never had so many comments on an article. It led to interesting discussions. Given the number of votes, we can draw a conclusion. The difference between the options to choose was not very big. You could say that € 1.200 is the absolute minimum for a large majority, but the majority still need € 1.500 or more to maintain a Western lifestyle in Thailand. Family, especially mom is sacred in Thailand. The children take care of the parents. They are willing to sacrifice a lot for this. If necessary, herself, by working in a bar. It sounds endearing. “My family poor, I must take care for family”. When you talk to a bargirl you often hear the same (sad) story. And that's right. Not a word has been lied about. Anyone who has ever been to Isaan will see with their own …

By Colin de Jong - Pattaya Quitting smoking is now easier than ever and many are happier than ever now that they have purchased the Electronic Cigarette. Friend Marco was in the hospital with a heart problem here and had to stop smoking urgently. Immediately gave an electronic cigarette because I know from experience how difficult this can be. It even cost me two relationships. But the ladies were married to their cigarette and not…

By Hans Bos Never heard of a 'share'? Neither did I until recently. I always thought it was about a 'chair', a chair. Because the official banks in Thailand still pay less than one percent interest on an annual basis, Thais are looking for other ways to make the little money they have work for them. The 'share' is one of the possibilities. Usually a shop or restaurant owner takes the initiative, …
