April 6 is Thailand's Chakri Day, a national holiday commemorating the establishment of the royal Chakri dynasty. On Chakri Day, there are religious ceremonies in honor of the previous kings. It provides an opportunity for Thais to pay respect to the various monarchs who played an important role in shaping Thailand.

Below are the dates for public holidays (days off) in Thailand in 2022. More special days may be added. In particular, please note that government offices and immigration offices in Thailand are closed on public holidays. Keep that in mind if you need to extend your visa or need consular services.
The Thai New Year celebration, Maha Songkran
The official Thai Songkran celebration is from Saturday, April 13 to Monday, April 15, but for this Monday, Thais receive another compensation day, Tuesday, April 16. Again, many institutions are not open for three days.
