The grand old ladies of weaving
I would like to call them The Grand Old Ladies, the not so very young ladies behind the looms in a hamlet near Kabin Buri in Thailand.
Floods: Good and bad news
• The water level of the Prachin Buri River fell by 24 cm yesterday
• 62 factories across the country have ceased production
• Dyke in Kabin Buri breached; water rises to 1,3 meters
Floods: Residents of Kabin Buri in the cold; industrial area Amata Nakorn threatened
• Residents of the hard-hit district of Kabin Buri (Prachin Buri) feel abandoned by the local and provincial authorities.
• Industrial estate Amata Nakorn, the largest in Thailand, which escaped the dance in 2011, is threatened by the water.
• The floods have killed 36 people so far; 28 of Thailand's 77 provinces have been affected by the water.
Water control
If you drive on road 304 from Kabin Buri to Korat, you will see a large billboard on the side of the road announcing the construction of a large water reservoir.
