I have a question about the experiences with the TM30. About 2 weeks ago I went to make a TM30 report for my tenant at Jomtien Immigration, to my surprise the line of fine payers was extremely long. My impression was that anyone who came to get an extension and could not present a TM30 first had to pay a 1.600 baht fine and then first fix the TM30 before they could get their extension.

Does anyone know how high the fines are for "illegally" bringing fruit and vegetables from Thailand to Schiphol? It is allowed to bring fish, durian, coconuts, bananas and pineapples from Thailand. Meat, dairy and other fruit and vegetables are not allowed, unless you have a "phytosanitary" certificate from the Thai government.

It concerns the following: my girlfriend drove her car without insurance (stupid, but nothing can be done about it), and had a collision. No human injuries, just a cow run over. The owner of the cow demands hefty compensation. Now my friend claims that the police knocked on her door and urged her to pay the amount to the owner. If not, she will go to jail for 3 months. Question: is that possible? Can the police (and not the judge) throw someone in jail?

What is the sanction fine for a late 90 day notification? In my case 1 day late (I know, my own fault). Initially a fine of 2.000 Baht. When I got my passport back, the officer slipped another 1.000 Baht note into the passport and said: half half. So in the end paid 1000 Baht and no receipt of course.

I have been staying in Thailand most of the time for about 20 years and own a condo in Chiangmai. But this morning at the Immigration Department in Chiangmai Promenade, for the first time when applying for my '90 days', I had to pay a 1600 Baht fine for not reporting my return to Chiangmai 24 hours after arrival at my condo building.

A while ago I wrote a post about the height of fines in Thailand. While surfing the internet I came across the amounts of fines as they currently (2015) apply in the Netherlands. Perhaps this is better for road safety, but it is a lot of money that people lose.
