In a few months I would like to invite my boyfriend for a short 10-day holiday in Belgium. I have read the Schengen file but I am not sure what the best option is. Either my friend can show his own bank statements or I have to stand surety. My friend always has an average of between thirty and forty thousand baht in his bank account.

We have a rather unusual case to which neither the Belgian embassy nor the Immigration Department knows the answer, because I always receive a standard answer with a reference to their site that does not contain my situation. I am Belgian, 48, my Thai legal wife is 40. I myself have been working and living in Thailand for 20 years, now we have decided to live in Belgium after so many years. Well, that doesn't seem possible.

My Thai girlfriend is in possession of a Belgian F+ Card (permanent residence card of a family member of a citizen of the Union) valid until September 29, 2020. In the period June 2016 to Aug 2018 she visited me several times with this residence card. visited the Netherlands, so without a visa. My question is whether she can still enter the Netherlands without a visa with her F+ card, which is still activated (checked via eID Belgium). Does anyone have experience with this?

My girlfriend's 15 year old son speaks French and of course Thai. He currently lives in Luxembourg. What possibilities are there for the son to study in Belgium in a French-speaking school (near Ghent)? An international school is an option but unaffordable (+/- 12.000 euros per year). Does anyone have experience with such a situation?

Previously, an identification key could be used to access your details at the pension service. As of 1/1/2019 this is over. An alternative is working with a 'token', but it now appears that you have to go to Belgium to obtain this and this must then be repeated every 2 years. At least this is reported by Fod Bosa, which issues the token. And so also for your wife, because that is usually where the shoe pinches. She does not have a Belgian passport and therefore cannot log in online because she does not have an adapted Eid card.
