Changes in Pattaya from the year 2017

Many changes are taking place in Pattaya. The starting point was January 29, 2017 when a rally ride of the NVTPattaya took place. I rode the same ride again and saw quite a few changes in Pattaya compared to 2017.

The rally ride started with a nice lunch in the Aroi restaurant on the Thungklom Tanman. (Soi 89). The first thing you notice is that the restaurant has moved and the building has become a commercial building. The tour continues to Chayapruek II where there is an assignment at the auction house Collingbourne. The buildings have recently been razed to the ground and there is a desolate plain waiting for a new destination. Then we drive towards Chaknork Lake, at least what is left of it after the persistent drought. If we continue to Beluga, the place with extreme sports, such as jet board and buggy driving, then nature has reconquered this place and there is nothing left to discover of what was there until 3 years ago.

The route continues through the Siam Country Club and arrives at an old train set. Marlin Monroe, among others, was depicted there. The image disappeared 2 weeks after the rally ride, later a blue image came back.

After a number of assignments, the rally group arrives at a fire station with a float. On it are a number of figures depicted around the "steering wheel" which stands for cycle for birth, death and rebirth with Buddha. The wagon has been moved and is languishing in the bushes.

Outside of this rally ride route, much more is being demolished in Pattaya. Sometimes owners no longer want to rent out their land and wait for a better destination.

However, the explosive growth in the number of 7-Eleven stores is striking. Such a business is up and running within 6 weeks! Is this necessary? No! At most to meet the needs of the Thai people who cannot walk more than two meters without a motorbike.
