The tunnel at Sukhumvit in Pattaya is ready

It took a long time, but then you have something. The tunnel on the Sukhumvit near Pattaya is ready. On Friday afternoon, a number of police officers could already be seen, but it was unclear at that time what was going on. Later it turned out that the tunnel was opened.

On Sunday I was “lucky” to be on the road again and try the tunnel right away! A beautiful entrance with clearly two two lanes separated by a concrete partition of one meter high. The tunnel itself was brightly lit. When I think of a tunnel, I always think of a place where you sit and drive for a while. Here this was over in a curse and a sigh, in my opinion less than two minutes and no tunnel feeling either.

The entrance and exit were more impressive than the tunnel itself. Hopefully this new addition to Pattaya will provide a partial solution to the traffic jam of recent years.

I drove through it myself on 27-08 and was also open on 26-08.

The city council assured everyone in advance that the tunnel would never be flooded. I don't know about tunnels, but just about all of Pataya under water and not just the tunnel? I'm curious.

Then it must be an above ground tunnel. Or they have called for help from "above" or consulted monks with the result that the tunnel does not flood.

Still important news there in Pattaya. I thought there was nothing to do in Pattaya, but work has been done. So besides the work of barmaids you also have work on the road. I'm already looking forward to the next contribution from the local correspondents and maybe it will be the erection of a curb or sweeping the stairs for the local 7-Eleven.

what about the beach? and the boulevard at dongtan beach?
Where we wait, sidewalks have been cleared, repaired and cleared of unnecessary obstacles.

I think it's a nice tunnel. Whether or not it can withstand rain showers remains to be seen. But other than that it looks good. No criticism so far. But these kinds of messages can of course be read in the media in Thailand. Translating a bit from there is very simple.

Can this also be your own work and photos, thank you!

Despite the fact that it took a very long time and caused a lot of inconvenience, the above-ground short tunnel is now in use. The road actually continues almost horizontally, because there is a hill there where the other lanes of Sukhumvit road are passable. This has a positive effect on traffic flows. The exit Sukhumvit rd and Pattaya gang is now intact again and this makes a positive contribution to the traffic from the Darksite of Pattaya and the Soi Siam rd area. Whether there will be water in the "tunnel" remains to be seen and not to be hoped for.
