Those looking for a quiet and authentic town on the coast but find Hua Hin too touristy can travel on to Ban Krut.

Ban Krut is about a six-hour drive from Bangkok and a bit further south than Hua Hin. The town also has a station, you can go there by train from Bangkok and of course by bus. This beautiful beach town is lesser known to international tourists, making it an ideal destination for those looking to escape the hustle and bustle of Thailand's more well-known tourist spots.

You can rent a simple or more luxurious hut on the beach at a very reasonable price and spend a few days there in peace. It beach is beautiful and deserted. Ban Krut also has a number of restaurants, cocktail bars and a pizzeria. On the top of the mountain is a palace called: Chedi Phakdi Paka from here you have a breathtaking view.

Ban Krut's coastline is characterized by long, pristine white sand beaches flanked by swaying palm trees and the calm waters of the Gulf of Thailand. The peaceful and restful environment makes it the perfect place for relaxation and rest. Unlike other touristy beaches, Ban Krut is usually quiet and not overcrowded, adding to its charm and appeal. Besides the beach, Ban Krut also has other attractions. One of the highlights is the Wat Tang Sai Temple, located on top of Thong Chai Mountain. The temple offers spectacular views of the surrounding landscapes and the sea. The large golden Buddha statue is an impressive sight and attracts both local visitors and tourists.

Despite being a small town, Ban Krut offers the basic amenities such as restaurants, shops and accommodations ranging from simple guesthouses to more luxurious resorts. The local cuisine is heavily influenced by the sea, with an abundance of fresh fish and seafood available. All in all, Ban Krut offers a peaceful and authentic Thai experience away from the hustle and bustle of the big cities. It is the perfect destination for those who want to experience Thailand's natural beauty in a calm and serene environment. This location is ideal for anyone who wants to enjoy peace, nature, good food and tropical temperatures. The area can be explored by scooter or bicycle.

Ban Krut is very well known to me. I regularly go there by motorcycle. On my way from Chumphon to Hua Hin I always drive via Ban Krut, rather than along the highway. Very beautiful, worth seeing and recommended for the tourist. By the way, it is located on a beautifully marked cycle route … Ban Krut … Map Ammarit …. Pathiu… Chumphon… Pak Nam… all along the coast.

We also visited Ban Krut last year, the beach is indeed beautiful, but after 1 week you have had it.
We are not pub tigers, but in the evening there is nothing to do.
This year a week to AO-Manao 70 kilometers south of Hua-Hin, a lively small town directly on a beautiful beach, good restaurants, 12 kilometers from the Burmese border, and many sights.
Then 6 weeks to Dolpin Bay, to Long Beach Inn.

Went to Ban Krut two years ago and was able to explore the whole area. liked it so much that we drove the long way from Chiang Mai again last year, there and back 4 days. But indeed we had seen it the second time.

Maybe the following video is a recommendation for those who haven't been there yet.

We bought a holiday home on the beach in 2002. And we've been there every year since then. We have been coming here for the winter for a few years now.
Ban Krut has changed a lot in recent years. In 2002 I was the only farang on the market in Ban Krut. Nowadays there are almost as many farang as Thai in the high season.
The accommodation for tourists is still being expanded at a rapid pace and the first high-rise buildings have now appeared. So Ban Krut is certainly not completely undiscovered anymore.
However, we still like it. Our house is no longer remote and we have good contacts with other hibernators and permanent residents.

We have been here last November, nice and quiet beautiful area for cycling and scootering
and did a great cooking workshop at PK kitchen Bankrut during the weekend, we were the attraction with the necessary hilarity when we were the only "farang" to dance and sing karaoke with the Thai on the beach,
what an experience super friendly people lovely beach and tasty eateries.
    don't advertise too much.

I myself like to be around there, especially Prachuap Khiri Khan is fine, beautiful beach Ao Manau and plenty to do but not yet too touristy. Wonderfully relaxing, you can almost sit alone on the stand on Monday morning

    No cocktail bars.
Ban Krut is indeed beautiful. We come to Ban Krut twice a year for years. Beautiful beaches and a nice area for motorcycle trips, for example to Bang Saphan. Fortunately, there are no cocktail bars. The area is for peace seekers.

Ban krut caught my attention about 29 years ago when I came through it several times by train towards Surat thani. The name and looking for a place to live brought me to Ban krut in 2017 27 years after I first heard of it. Ban Krut is indeed very beautiful with a beautiful beach, but it didn't become it for me, personally it was just too far away from everything to live there. But to spend a few days there I can only recommend.

    Hallo,
Went there in 2019 and loved it. However, now I'm afraid that after the corona there will be nothing left of the few restaurants! Then it is TOO quiet there I think…

    Greetings

Been 4 years ago.. We had rented for 1 month (from a Dutchman). After 1 week we are done with it: really nothing to do. It was really boring for us. Sorry….

    • Lung addie says up

Yes dear Gust, Ban Krut is not exactly the right place to experience anything and everything. But that is the case in most non-touristy places. Ban Krut is a good base for exploring the southern coast of Thailand. You are so in Hua Hin, Pak Nam….. if you go more south from Ban Krut you will find really nice beaches, but yes, you will not encounter any gogo bars. So you made a choice yourself that did not meet expectations.
