Menzo's men in Thailand (video)
Football is development, fun, connecting, winning. Just ask the Jupiler League U23 team that had a special adventure in Thailand at the beginning of this summer. Because football has enriched the lives of this group of young boys from the first division, as is evident from the short film 'De men van Menzo'.
It is June when coach Stanley Menzo returns to Schiphol with twenty Jupiler League footballers. They have been to Thailand and played three matches during the ten-day trip through the Asian country, gave six clinics to Thai children, got to know another culture and were amazed. The trip was organized by the KNVB through the Clublinking exchange program in collaboration with the First Division Cooperative, with the aim of contributing to the (social) development of young football players and realizing cooperation between the Thai and Dutch First Divisions.
In 'De men van Menzo' you follow the Jupiler League U23 team from the moment the boys leave; you see their first impressions of Bangkok (“I only see taxis here, nothing else”), you see behind-the-scenes footage of their matches (with some great goals!), you see them seriously doubting unfamiliar food and you go on a bike ride through the poor neighborhoods of Bangkok (“That had quite an impact on the boys”, according to coach Menzo).
And you see them having fun together. A collection of individuals ends up as a team, both on and off the field. In the last minute of the journey, they sing in unison with Kenny B and the players bring a self-orchestrated ode to the coach. 'We want to see Menzo, we want to see Menzo!'

My experiences on European football fields are quite filled with all kinds of events.
As the longest sponsor of a Dutch BVO, after many.thailand trips, I started looking for
A Thai BVO (paid football organization). I had a conversation with the DB (executive board)
Where I was warmly welcomed. We didn't talk about the budget because I knew that
Every club depends on a factory brand. a small office of 4x3. football was nothing
Before but the players were dressed up like real stars. I've been through something. What
Worth mentioning was when the self-proclaimed referee whistled the game to an end
Made the losing side a guard of honor to applaud the winning team.
No one threw beer or aggressiveness. The Thais are too smart for that. Beer is drunk
And then there was a lavish meal. Where about the Dutch players and trainers with great
Reverence was carded.
