Unseen Thailand Nan, new excursion from Green Wood Travel
This new tour from Green Wood Travel takes you to the unknown. The province of Nan is not yet much visited by tourists and has some special sights. For example, there are still hill tribes that cannot be visited anywhere else.
During this jeep trekking and short walks you will be guided through the unknown but incredibly beautiful province of Nan in Northern Thailand. The exclusive trekking brings you into contact with the almost extinct culture of the Mlabri community.
The Mlabri, which literally means 'people of the forest', mainly live in Nan. The total population of this tribe is estimated at about 120 people throughout Asia.
The tribe is called 'Phi Thong Luang' by the locals which means 'the spirits of the yellow leaves'. This is because they live deep in the jungle and are rarely seen. They use banana tree leaves to cover their houses. When the leaves turn yellow, they move to another place. They are collectors and hunters and live in very small families.
In the village, the members of the tribe will prepare pork in a traditional way. Afterwards there is the possibility to taste something of their "cooking skills". Furthermore, during this trekking you will pass villages of the Htin and Yao tribes where a local lunch will be consumed. Because the province is not much visited, these places are much less touristy than similar places in Chiang Mai province.
On the return journey through the beautiful mountain landscape, a visit is also made to the Hmong tribe. Late in the afternoon we return to the starting point. An unforgettable experience that hardly anyone has experienced yet.
