The EmQuartier shopping center in Bangkok, which opened in May 2015, is truly a sight to behold. Even if you strongly dislike 'shopping', a visit to EmQuartier is simply a must. The entire complex exudes design of the first order and rivals the well-known Siam Paragon.

The architects of the American New York-based Leeser Architecture can be proud of the final result. It really is a picture of a design with a lot of glass, beautiful shapes and playful lighting; in short, one and all Grandeur. You can also step outside on different floors of the building from where you have a nice view of part of the city.

The building has three different departments: The Glass Quartier, The Helix Quartier and The Waterfall Quartier. A real 40 meter high waterfall is the namesake for the latter part.

Dining Extra vagansa

In the Helix Quartier you will find about 50 restaurants from the sixth to the ninth floor, ranging from luxurious to medium-sized. Do you want to enjoy Thai, European, Japanese or Chinese cuisine, it's all possible. Take a walk around and be warned; it will take a lot of effort before you can make a choice.

Shop

With a lady in your company, you obviously cannot avoid sticking to food and drinks. Of course, all well-known fashion brands such as Louis Vutton, Cucci, Chanel, Prado, Dolce & Gabbana and so on are located in this beautiful building. Less prestigious brands from the lower segment such as Zara, H & M, Gap and others can be found on the higher floors and the aforementioned 'greats' on the ground floor, where the rents are considerably higher.

At the various smaller shops, my attention went to nice design items and a department with art photography from some well-known Thai photographers.

Our location in the Netherlands and how to get there

It's a piece of cake, or perhaps baht, to get there by skytrain. Get off at Phrom Phong station and walk straight in. And if you've had enough, which won't happen soon, you can simply walk to the Emporium shopping center across the road.

    Joseph.

There is no arguing about taste. Yes Emquartier was designed with design in mind. Unfortunately, practicality has been lost sight of.

I am a big schopping fan and know almost all the malls in Bangkok. In terms of clarity and logical layout, in my opinion Emquartier is downright bad. Anyway. If you go with your girlfriend and leave the shopping to her and you look more at the design yourself, then it is definitely worth taking a look. My hotel in Bkk is around the corner. And I often travel with the BTS to and from Phromphong station.
