This summer, many Dutch holidays focus on major sporting events such as the European Football Championship, the Tour de France and the Olympic Games. Research by an airline ticket provider among 1.016 adult Dutch people shows that no fewer than 36 percent of holidaymakers plan to watch sports from their holiday address. For a sixth of those surveyed, the sports program even determines their daily schedule.

Men in particular are avid sports watchers: 42 percent of them plan to watch sporting events during the holidays, compared to 28 percent of women. Moreover, a quarter of men spend their entire vacation day planning sports, while this is only twelve percent of women.

Booked wisely

Although many people plan their holidays around sports, only fourteen percent took sporting events into account when booking. Seven percent even considered not going on holiday because of the sports summer. Of those staying at home, six percent cited exercise as the main reason. Once again, men are more concerned with this: almost twenty percent of them booked their holiday with sports in mind, compared to ten percent of women.

Last minute relaxation

Watching sports during the holidays can be tiring, the research shows: eight percent of holidaymakers feel ready for a holiday again after all the sporting violence. This percentage is almost twice as high for men as for women: eleven percent compared to six percent.

Following on from this theme, where can we follow the Olympic Games ONLINE here?
I'm a big fan and would love to catch some sports.

I was able to follow the previous games via my telephone provider, but I no longer have the correct link.

Thanks in advance for thinking along.

I never watch sports so I'm not really interested.
Just placed your text on Google and found it.
I think it will work then.
But Oops you already had something.

    Success.

You can watch the 2024 Summer Olympics live in Thailand for free on BBC iPlayer. Since BBC is a streaming service based in the United Kingdom, it is not available anywhere else. To access it, you'll need PureVPN and connect to an IP address in the UK.
