New York is the best city in the world for shopping. The American city offers sufficient variety in shops, is well visited and staff are friendly to shoppers. Bangkok ranks twelfth in a list of the 25 best shopping cities in the world.

This is according to the reviews of the British travel site Expedia.

Berlin is the first European city in the list and is in second place. The German city scores a 10 for friendliness, but visitors feel they are not getting enough for their money.

Bangkok has to leave other Asian cities such as Kuala Lumpur and Singapore ahead. Bangkok scores significantly less on friendliness (of shop staff?) and even scores a three and a big fail on that aspect.

Amsterdam is in 24th place. Visitors find shop staff friendly, but have the feeling that they are not getting value for their money. Amsterdam is praised for its diverse range of shops: there is a shop for every budget.
