There are quite a few foreigners who enter into a (long-term) relationship with a Thai lady, who is often a lot younger. The reverse is less common, but if it happens and it also involves a famous Thai singer, then that is news. Sunaree Ratchasima has announced that she will marry Wouter from the Netherlands.

Rumors of this future marriage had been around for a long time, but last week the couple finally tied the knot and registered for marriage.

Age

Sunaree is 48 years old, while her “toy boy” Wouter is only 27 years old. The couple plans to host a traditional Thai wedding ceremony in November, complete with dowry. The latter should be taken too seriously, the point is that the Thai tradition is maintained in this.

wish for children

Sunaree has been married before, has a son from that marriage who is now 6 years old and announced in a TV program that she now also wants a “luuk bitch”, a child with mixed Dutch and Thai blood. “We are talking to the doctors about that,” said the popular “luuk thung” singer, “but I am fit and healthy so why not”.

TV program

The soon-to-be couple is on a Channel 8 talk show and it is only Sunaree who does the talking. She talks about the difference in age, the administrative hassle of being able to marry a foreigner and more of these kinds of things. Wouter looks at his fiancee with eyes full of admiration, but says nothing.

Who is Walter?

And that excites, doesn't it? While there is plenty of Sunaree to be found on the Internet and YouTube, Wouter is a complete unknown. Looking for some more information I only found that he comes from a place “half an hour” from Amsterdam. There is no Thai restaurant (yet) in that place and one of the plans of the happy future couple is to change that.

Maybe you know Wouter or he reads this message himself. We would like to know more about his background, his love for Sunaree and his plans for the future.

Beautiful video for our showtime enthusiasts, unfortunately without Dutch or English subtitles.

If you can't get enough of it, here's another nice video:

I hope the tabloids don't cause much trouble for this couple. Or do they not have them in Thailand. Bangkok Boulevard on TV? In short, if I knew something about Wouter who lives half an hour from Amsterdam just like me, I wouldn't tell.

I don't quite get the fuss.

I know that most foreigners have a much younger girlfriend, but I'm glad that my wife and I are no longer the only ones. I'm 33 and my wife is 45 and there's nothing wrong with that. Yes, it is my job to keep her young. But that is not a problem.

Live and let live I would say. As long as the love is real.

    Regards Chris

Good luck to the couple, but do have a question or comment, pay a sinsot (wedding) if the bride was previously married and then even has a child from another man, then a sinsot is unusual…..or money not with famous people?
I know that in the village, there is secret laughter with the "stupid" farang ... .. who does not know the rules ...

Wouter could have been worse, physically that is. I think she's a beautiful woman. Hopefully it's a new trend where the women are equal with the men. Might also save us a lot of trouble if we walk down the street with a younger Thai. I hope they have a long and happy marriage.

Met her during a TV show in Bangkok and must say she is very spontaneous, but was not so charmed by her Thai Country and Western style. But that is of course personal, but she is filling her pockets with those Thai songs and happily nibbling away.
Wish the couple a happy future, but think it is a bit late for another desire to have children. But technology can provide a lot of help.
