Police in Pattaya have arrested 3 foreigners who were swimming in the sea, while a ban on access to the beach is in place.
It is sweltering and sweltering hot in Thailand. Three foreigners in Pattaya thought it smart to cool off in the sea. That is difficult, because to reach the sea you have to go to the beach and that is temporarily prohibited area due to the corona measures. Fortunately, we have the strong arm of the law, the Pattaya Police, who stepped in to put an end to this civil disobedience.
According to the police, the 3 rascals were summoned to immediately leave the cooling seawater on pain of a real arrest. The two ladies and a middle-aged man turned out to be East Indian deaf and happily continued to bathe in the surf of the sea.
The police showed their unmistakable decisiveness and decided to take the criminal foreigners to the police station. It is unclear whether they have been put in prison on bread and water, but they may receive a hefty fine, because swimming in the sea at Pattaya is of course something that must be tackled very hard. Naturally, the local hermandad then gave a press conference and it was quite urgent for the news to document this earth-shattering event.

A press conference about the arrest of 3 bathing foreigners is indeed an earth-shattering event.
Moreover, it proves that they have way too much free time, which needs to be done about.
These naughty people have been arrested. But by whom? The in and in corrupt police force of Pattaya.
More of these ridiculous videos about Thai police appearances in the media please.
Then the beaches and the whole of Pattaya will remain empty for months.
A very nice and great reporting. Nicely explained, nail on the head.
Well done, editors. More of that.
We can discuss whether the ban is nonsense or not, but why do people swim in the sea if the government prohibits it? It makes sense that you get a fine. What idiots are stepping on the government's toes?
If you look at the picture here, there is no beach, but only rocks and sea.
https://pattayaone.news/foreigners-arrested-for-swimming-in-pattaya/
Isn't there only a prohibition to enter the beach?
You see the same image on the video: no beach
On the sign shown above the 1st sign shows that it is not allowed to swim.
16 y Pattaya..in the room since March 16..just go shopping early..no people on the street.
Stick to the regulations, I would say you have to do that in Belgium!
I heard it said somewhere that there is a virus going around, they call it Covid-19.
That seems to be quite contagious, they say. it goes all over the world.
So governments are taking some measures. Maybe too strict? Who's to say.
Thousands of people on the beach and 1,5 meters away, difficult to manage.
Let go of the reins and people cling to each other with the risk of spreading: examples enough.
There has been warning: in the media, many warning signs.
Nevertheless, several do not adhere to it: no face mask, sitting close together.
It's in our blood: averse to government measures, ass against the crib.
Song: “Dutch people, you don't dictate the laws to them”.
But the bottom line is that the government is right. Better safe than sorry.
Laziness has shown in several countries what it can lead to.
May these nitwit tourists who ignore a warning serve as an example from me and
get a big blow. Good warning to the others who dismiss it as nonsense.
If people themselves don't seem to see the point of some measures, I hope they stick to them out of respect for others.
Thousands of people on the beach? Where do you get that from? In recent months there are hardly any people on the beaches.
Covid-19 is just a mess virus, it's the measures that push everything into the economic abyss. I understand that the old people here are afraid, after all, they are the target group of the virus.
There is also such a thing as the courtesy of a host.
Therefore, behave as a guest and respect the laws and customs of your host.
Dear Chris,
That Ferrari did not have to adhere to any limit, in Germany (where I live) it was allowed to drive 370 km / h or more on that piece of asphalt. Don't understand the relevance with regard to Corona either (?)
Christian,
What a comparison??
This reaction makes no sense!!
Moreover, a Fiat, just like your Ferrari, can drive as fast as they want on some German autobahns!
such tourists ruin it for the others. Hoping that they will receive a hefty fine, perhaps a week in a Thai cell is a good learning experience. these tourists are irresponsible and ruin it for the other tourists
A week in jail? Why not the death penalty? And if anyone steals, cut off his hand and stone adulterous women. Are the police still busy in Pattaya.
Khan Peter,
The police don't get busy, because they are all behind bars, because they steal, they all have a mia noi, and they think they are above the law, so if you ask me all those corrupt guys behind bars and then throw away the keys.
And then there is another big problem and that is those red brainless people who have always supported Thaksin and his sister.
So if all red supporters and corrupt men are locked up, then it will certainly be ok with this beautiful country and their friendly people.
Mvg a Thailand enthusiast and connoisseur.
Dear Thailand connoisseur, what do we do with all those yellow supporters.
Should also be locked up or not sometimes.
Jan Beute.
Ronnie,
You forget a group of those corrupt guys who were in power before the red supporters.
Then Thailand will be a bit empty then everything will be solved…
That way I still know what to get it right in your eyes.
We take corrupt red, yellow (Abbisit, Suthep), green (army) and brown (police). What then remains?
Corrupt “Farangs” ? 😉
Stupid of course, but those cops will make a big profit again. Was talking to a compatriot on beach road this week, with the masks down, someone from the tourist police came to us with the advice to put up the masks, because the police want much money now!!! how come people not come back to thailand anymore??? my answer was I know, but if I tell you, you're going to put me in jail. Terrible the police here, you can't have a worse advertisement as a country.
I am surprised at the caustic tone of the article and the derogatory description of police enforcement. This behavior of the bathers has nothing to do with what is called 'civil disobedience'. Because what is that? “Civil disobedience is the willful violation of the law or disregard for government orders for a political purpose. Most thinkers and activists who have dealt with it argue that civil disobedience is, by definition, non-violent and never occurs out of mere self-interest.” (source Wikipedia, https://nl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Burgerlijke_ongehoorzaamheid ). This bathing where it is forbidden seems to me to be typical of pursuing self-interest in violation of the regulations to keep the reduction of the virus manageable.
Just adapt to the rules and laws of the country where you are a guest.
If it is maintained once and then it is not good again.
You may ask what the definition of "beach" is. Can this rock formation also be regarded as a beach?
There was no beach there, just rocks, watch the video. So, strictly speaking, no violation of the beach ban
But there is a sign that swimming is prohibited…
Of course a stupid action by these bathers, but to demonize them like this is going very far!
A firm scolding and paying some beer money is the usual course of action!
That happened anyway…
“According to the police, the 3 rascals were summoned to immediately leave the cooling seawater on pain of a real arrest. The two ladies and a middle-aged man turned out to be East Indian deaf and happily continued to bathe in the surf of the sea.”
Corrupt or not corrupt does not matter. If there is a sign in various languages indicating that you are not allowed to enter the beach and a picture for the illiterates, then you are asking for trouble.
When the police finally do their job properly, things are not good again.
Jan Beute.
Rules regarding corona must be followed. Both in Thailand or anywhere in the world. Governments are trying to reduce corona with moderate to strict rules. Some of those rules are debatable but are not bullying rules.
I see so many people who flout the rules, and then mostly 15 to 40 year olds who feel little addressed. Fines are justified, also in Thailand.
Proclaiming in the press and Youtube is somewhat degrading according to Western customs. On the other hand, the rapid spread of this news means that tourists will not risk it any time soon. So they achieved their goal.
I know they keep the beaches closed to prevent half BKK from coming here and sitting on the beach in large groups drunk. Furthermore, the situation is totally absurd, with 2000 men in the soi bukhao market ok, with 25 men in a pickup OK but with 2 on the beach nooooo virus! 555
One has nothing to do with the other.
