Earlier this week, the website of De Ondernemer featured an extensive interview with the CEO (a woman) of Christine le Duc, the most famous provider in the erotica industry in the Netherlands. The turnover of her company, which mainly consists of lingerie and sex toys, almost tripled in 2020, the best year ever. The company was forced to focus fully on the web shop, with sales of (sexy) lingerie increasing by more than 40%.
Christine le Duc's own survey of 600 people asked about the impact of the lockdown on love life. Most important conclusion: we have less sex and the men in particular are fed up with that… Apparently, according to that study, women take better care of themselves. Not only did the sale of lingerie explode, but women in particular also bought 'love toys' en masse.
Thailand
In Thailand, selling and possessing sex toys is illegal, but there appears to be a thriving black market for them. You can buy lingerie at major brand stores, in department stores or even (in times without lockdown) from itinerant sellers who operate in the entertainment world.
Annebra
I wanted to know whether the sale of lingerie has also increased during the corona crisis. I contacted one of the major brands, Annebra, which has more than 20 stores in Bangkok, Pattaya and Phuket, among others. I didn't get any real information about sales figures, but it became clear that their webshop is a great success. That will be no different with the other major brands.
nightlife
Now that nightlife in Thailand is very limited, if not reduced to zero, the number of extramarital sex will also be drastically reduced. It therefore seems plausible to me that one's own partner receives more attention and to reinforce that attention, a lot of new (sexy) lingerie is bought.
Finally
At my house, not much has changed in terms of sex due to the lockdowns. I am in an age group that has sex almost every day: almost on Monday, almost on Tuesday, almost on Wednesday, etc… (old joke)

Bert Gringhuis (1945), born and raised in Almelo in the beautiful Twente. Later lived for many years in Amsterdam and Alkmaar, working in export for various companies. I first came to Thailand in 1980 and immediately fell in love with the country. Been back many times since then and moved to Thailand after my (early) retirement as a widower. I have been living there for 22 years now with my somewhat younger Thai lady Poopae.
My first experiences in Thailand as a kind of newsletter sent to family, friends and acquaintances, which later appeared under the name Gringo on Thailandblog. Many, many articles followed those first stories and that has grown into an almost daily hobby.
In the Netherlands still an avid footballer and football referee, but the years are starting to tell and in Thailand still avid, but the pool billiards is really of inferior quality, ha ha!
