Reader Submission: Experience SSO Laem Chabang

DutchMen / Shutterstock.com
Today (8-9-2020) traveled to Laem Chabang to get the statement of life from the SVB for the application for my state pension signed and stamped.
Now I had prepared myself in view of the rumors that SSO Laem Chabang no longer does that -whether or not for the time being. Called SSO and SVB in the preliminary phase and were told by both authorities last week that they do.
You guessed it: not when you are there. Very friendly, but very resolutely I was refused that service and referred to the embassy by an SSO employee (who would do that online given Covid-19, the argument why they do not provide the service, while crowds of people in and around the SSO office whether or not roaming around with face masks to make other requests). The only thing you can do online with the embassy is to make an appointment and only in the morning hours. That would be an early and long day's work to get the empathy statement.
So shared this experience with the SVB and that employee showed understanding. I can now have the declaration of life signed and stamped by a local notary. That thanks to Covid-19. Thanks SVB, saves a lot of time and baht.

The Certificate of Life form mentioned under 6 Signature
Below you will find an overview of competent authorities:

Why those messages that SSO is not doing its job, so many other, much easier choices…
Dear Goort,
this concerns an application for AOW and SVB was clear in this - in order - regional office SSO, Dutch embassy in Bangkok (so no other) and consulate in Phuket.
Tried in the preliminary phase whether I could use the same ILV options (notary, municipality, immigration…) that I had with other pension providers, partly because of the rumor that SSO Laem Chabang does not handle the ILV. No as a firm answer and SVB even investigated whether SSO had stopped, which according to SVB was not the case. Called SSO head office and they also indicated that I could be at the SSO office for this.
Fortunately, SVB has shown flexibility after the lesser experience and stated that now a notary was sufficient. But beware: not in advance. Because apparently other SSO regional offices will continue to do so and "everything" is different with an already current state pension.
Hope that other applicants will be spared this process in the near future or decide to immediately choose the embassy or consulate route if the SVB is clear in the instructions.
And by no means a reproach to SSO or SVB: after all, these are different times and we are here in Thailand - mai pen rai khrab 🙂
Experienced from my own experience that the proof of life issued by the Dutch embassy is only accepted in very exceptional cases
Lung kees
Dear Gerard, just read the following message on the SVB site.
'Proof of life' postponed
Due to the corona measures, the SVB has decided to temporarily not send the 'proof of life' form from April 2020. Until October 1, 2020, no forms will be sent for the time being.
This has no consequences for the payment of pensions, benefits and contributions to costs. Payment continues as usual. Even if you cannot return the 'proof of life' in time.
If necessary, we will contact you in the meantime by telephone or e-mail. Take advantage of this.
I am surprised that Sept. the SSO was not closed!
A few days off. Many institutions even closed post office.
I have to have my ilz form stamped for 3 authorities
and signatures, that is possible, for example, at the sso in Korat or a doctor, who
like no other can see that you are still alive.
In Pattaya, for example, this can be done with a doctor in Jomtiem
between the traffic lights to the beach and the market
on 2nd street, who initials and stamps.
I received the same message from the SVB at the end of March as that
to which Will refers. There are/will be none between the end of March and the beginning of October
BILZ forms to be signed. Normally I get my forms
in June, 2 weeks before my birthday, but now wait and see until SVB informs me
send the forms. I therefore do not understand why Gerard, perhaps with a
“old” form, has found it necessary to go to Laem Chabang now
for signature and stamp. I also understand the reaction of the SVB employee
not, she should and could have pointed out to Gerard the corona situation
caused delay (you can assume that the employee will be informed of this on the
height).
