I am normally used to completing my hotel bookings through Agoda or Booking.com in 10 minutes. Welcome to the world of the Thailand pass. It has already taken me half a day, and 3 days lead time, to find something I like – a hotel with adequate meals and good cancellation policies. All in all a lot of hassle to book 1 night in Bangkok.

You can search for hotels with a Quarantine package via Agoda, but the offer is scant, and the necessary information such as transfer to hotel and covid test is not available at a glance. Booking.com does not offer a search option for this.

The best site I could find so far is https://asq.in.th/bangkok-test-and-go-hotels.

The website allows you to search for hotels with a refund policy. Unfortunately, this does not mean that every hotel adheres to this. Some simply put “No refund” on their website. Apparently that is also a refund policy. Others put "no refund" in their quote, while their website does speak of a refund.

The same problem applies to the number of meals. Many test&go packages are limited to 1 meal.

I have written to 3 hotels so far through this site. Unfortunately no success yet because of the above problems with their quote.

You will receive a quote after you have sent them all the privacy-sensitive information, which you must upload in the Thailand Pass application, by email (nice and safe 🙂 ). Questions you have asked about the times of the covid test and meals will also be ignored at first. Fortunately I have a line in Thailand, so that communication with the hotel can be smooth.

I wonder if readers have found better alternatives to book a Test & Go package in an AQ or SHA+ hotel in Bangkok?

Surely you will not be unknown that we have had Covid for some time, which means that the situation is different than normal everywhere. As a result, it takes a little more effort to travel than other times.
Just booked myself (still with CoE instead of ThaiPass) for 1 night at the Silom Serene Hotel (Bangkok) http://www.silom-serene.com) seated for THB 6900 (price for a maximum of 2 nights) incl airport transfer, PCR test, 3 meals/day, Netflix, internet etc. They also report “No Refund” on their website, but because I had already booked for 7 nights before had to book, I had paid way too much for it, and the refund was no problem at all. Refunded within a week.

I really don't think you're looking hard enough. When I look at the list of quarantine hotels in Bangkok on Agoda, I see many hotels that advertise with Airport pick up, 3 meals a day, RT PCR tests and Free cancellation. Do you click through on the individual hotels to view all the information? I found it all very clear, comparison went pretty quickly.

Tip: Siam Mandarina at Suvarnabhumi airport. In addition to the previously mentioned quarantine package, it is nice and close, ideal for traveling quickly. Also good online reviews. I approached the hotel directly to ask if they were making a fuss about unmarried couples and got an immediate answer (no no problem), accompanied by a booking form. At a lower rate than on Agoda. Booked quickly, quick response, neat service. All in all, I spent about 1,5 hours on my hotel booking.

I ran into the same issues on Agoda.
Anyway, Agoda did give the name of the hotels, and via google I came to the website of a hotel, filled in the contact form there, without privacy-sensitive information.
Within a few hours I received the answer below, all the info I wanted to know was in it.
I booked with them, and then of course you have to share your private information.

Hello, just booked in Phuket, leaving next week. Any SHA+HOTEL was ok, after booking the hotel with SHA+ transport they provide a SHABA certificate, for your Thailand Pass, I could simply book the PCR test on the PSAS site, 2400 bath and is taken upon landing at the airport , 6 hours later the result follows in my hotel, and from then on you are free, provided you download the app and self-test on day 6. Hopefully I have helped a number of bloggers with this, ps: provided you have good photos and a separately enlarged QR -CODES upload there is no problem with the TP request, I did 3 and had them very fast, 1 even within the minute, they use [AI] artificial intelligence, so the QR codes make the difference, sawadee krab, Gio

      Hi Gio,

It is interesting to test this way immediately upon arrival at the airport, and then it is much easier (and cheaper) to book any SHA+ accommodation…

I still have a whole pile of vouchers for domestic flights .. so even if I have to go to Isaan via Bangkok later, it's not for me to enter Bangkok or Puhket .. .
I think it's an interesting option.

      Thank you,
      Erik

      • Thu says up

Erik, a night near Phuket airport is sufficient under “TEST&GO”, they promise the result of the test after 6 hours, you can fly rested the next day, greetings, Gio

I had the same problems, booked a hotel twice that was classified as SHA+, had no more test on arrival, luckily I found something now, although it is far too expensive, but then you at least have what you are looking for.
A hotel that takes you from the airport to your hotel by bus, becomes your test the same day, and gives a test result before 12.00 the next day, so that you can leave..
I'm just not sure yet if I can reach my girlfriend since I don't have a SIM card yet of course..
Anyway, we'll see, I'll get a sim card when I can leave my hotel..
I've been busy for about 5 days, try to arrange an AQ hotel, then you know for sure that the above requirements are met, and you can request your Thailand pass after confirmation.
That only took 1 day before I had it.
The only thing I don't know yet is whether to download and fill out that T8 form.
in principle, these are the same facts as you can find in your Thailand pass.
If anyone knows anything about this I'd love to hear it.
    Happy travelling!!
    Aart

    • Thu says up

Dear, Download T8 and fill it out on paper, hand it in at immigration upon arrival. As for sim card, all Thais have Line on their smartphone, download it and add your girlfriend, it also works from BE and Ned, grtjs, Gio

      • Henkwag says up

You forget to mention that you MUST have internet on Suvarnaphumi immediately, otherwise you simply cannot download and use LINE.

We booked through Agoda and had no problem. you indicate on their site that you want a hotel with a refund and an AQ hotel. At these hotels that appear you can see how much extra you get (at v + 5 = there are 3 meals, free transport from the airport, PCR test, etc.).
We found it very easy to compare the hotels.
We immediately received a confirmation from the hotel to request our Thailand pass, which we received within 3 days.
Of course the hotels are not cheap but luckily it's only for 1 night and hopefully we can continue traveling to our final address.
We have booked Siam Mandarina hotel near the airport of Bangkok. Very friendly people.

Good luck with your hotel search.

ps We also fill in the T8 form for safety. Better to much than to less.

We had first booked an ASQ hotel on Koh Samui at Booking.com at a very reasonable price (€ 120,00 for 3 nights). But when looking for a package including the CPR test, there was nothing to be found at Booking.com. So canceled the room for free and contacted the hotel myself. The 'manager' replied that only the hotel itself could offer a 'package'. Because we needed a 'certificate of booking' for the Thailand Pass, we booked this 'package' for 3 nights. The price was accordingly: room with breakfast (3), PCR test (2) and a single taxi from the airport to the hotel; The price was probably a 'Corona price': € 417,00. Now the last word has not yet been said about this, because upon arrival at the hotel I am going to make the so-called manager understand that for that price dinner may be included. I don't know if I will manage to do that, but I will use my Thai 'contacts'.

  8. Thu says up

For Phuket: Book PCR test separately on PSAS site, then SHA+hotel & SHA+transport from the hotel including separate booking, no package. Phuket: 1200Baht/night for 4*boutique resort, transport 1250 Batht for 3 pers, PSAS PCR TEST at the airport on arrival 2400baht, grtjs, Gio

  9. Eddy says up

    Thanks for the many responses!

Finally found an AQ hotel yesterday that answered all questions by email and confirmed the website information such as 100% refund with 3 meals for 4.499 baht per night.

Immediately applied for the Thailand pass and got it approved today after 24 hours.

The things that struck me about the Thailand pass application:

    1) I was not asked about my visa, while the duration of my trip is 3 months
    2) I had sent a Thai vaccination QR code, because the QR proof converted into NL only mentions the last vaccination date. I believe the check of this Thai QR code was manual, otherwise the approval would have been faster than 1 full working day.

    • Peter (editor) says up

And the name of that hotel?

I got my Thai QR code _without_ booking an AQ hotel, so apparently you can do that before. It was approved immediately, probably because I used the coronapas QR codes (the app will complain and block you for 2.5 minutes if you take a screenshot, but it works).

I had already booked my hotel, but it turns out you can't simply upgrade to their Test & Go package on the first day. You have to adjust the booking and then book separately. Communication via email has been dramatic so far, calling works better.

I still have over a week left, so we'll find out...

Off topic, but for insurance to orange territory (including statement that it covers over $50K), see OOM. Here too, incidentally, I received the QR code on the basis of my normal travel insurance and Dutch-language policy. But I can imagine that there will be more careful checks at the gate and at the border.

    Dear writer,

I booked through the website you mention at Hotel Casa Nithra Bangkok. Sent the email below, and received a neat answer, the answer to all questions was affirmative. Had a nice 1-page confirmation that was approved with the Thailand Pass application. I have a suite room with a large bathtub, they also have cheaper rooms.

Please find attached all required documentation for a booking of [Suites Room with Spa Bathtub] for ASQ 1-day Test & Go Package for 2 persons. We will arrive at the airport with flight XXX from XXX at XX.XX on Thursday December 2nd 2021.

Kindly confirm room availability, price and method of payment.

    Kindly confirm the following:

    1. The 1-night package of Test & Go program should cover accommodation for 1 night, transportation from the airport to the hotel, the required RT-PCR COVID-19 test, and an Antigen Test Kit (ATK).

    3. Simple meals are included?
    4. Suites Room with Spa Bathtub – Bathtub is available

    7. One question please which is important for us: at which time can we expect result of the COVID-19 PCR test to your experience? We would like to book a connecting flight to Chiang Mai next day. I hope you have some idea at which hour/time the results come back (in Mor Chana app?)

Apologies for all the questions, I hope you understand in current time we need a lot of information Thank you for your time and hope to see you on December XX!

    Kind regards,

I also looked for a hotel in Bangkok for the end of December.
I found the information from Agoda clear enough, also about the tests and the meals and the transfer.
I finally looked at the price and booked with FuramaXclusive Sukhumvit. Maybe not the nicest or best hotel, but for 1 night it doesn't matter to me.
The booking went smoothly and I received an email back very quickly.
Only downside: free cancellation is possible up to 14 days before.
It does say if you can't go because of a positive PCR test that you get 90% back.
Price all in (tests, meals, transfer): 111 (single).
