Biggles Big Band Amsterdam – Thailand Tour 2013 – breathes new life into the hits of the great Big Bands and Frank Sinatra!

Biggles Big Band is on tour in Thailand from February 20 to March 4, 2013. Following the successful concert series in 2009 and 2010, the jazz orchestra has again received invitations to give concerts in Thailand, from Ayuthaya, Sukhothai, Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, Khon Kaen, Bangkok to Hua Hin.

Biggles Big Band Amsterdam, led by conductor Adrie Braat, is a 20-piece orchestra that has jazz music from the heyday of the big band in its repertoire and breathes new life into the magical sounds of Glenn Miller, Count Basie and Tommy Dorsey. For almost 30 years, Biggles Big Band has been playing every Monday evening in café Casablanca, in the center of Amsterdam, where its reputation is legendary.

Biggles Big Band consists of 5 trumpets, 4 trombones, 5 saxophones, guitar, piano, double bass, percussion and singer. The repertoire is great to listen to and great to dance to with titles like Tuxedo Junction, In The Mood, Baby Elephant Walk, and many other jazz classics.

In addition to being leader and founder of Biggles Big Band, conductor Adrie Braat is mainly active as bass player of the world-famous Dutch Swing College Band with which he travels all over the world.

The band's singer, entertainer Arnold Auée brings Frank Sinatra back to life with hits like: Fly Me To The Moon, I've Got You Under My Skin and The Lady Is A Tramp.

Biggles Big Band brings the right music to get everyone on the dance floor. The orchestra distinguishes itself by the professional, enthusiastic and spontaneous way in which the band members bring a complete show. They get everyone singing and dancing and there is a chance that some musicians even jump into the audience during their solo!

In 1985, a few young enthusiastic big band enthusiasts founded the Amsterdam orchestra so that they could play their favorite music. When they had to come up with a name for this orchestra that would honor their motto 'a boy's dream comes true', they came up with the name Biggles, the hero from the adventure books of Captain WE Johns.

The following musicians deserve extra attention:

  • Trinus de Vries on tenor saxophone is one of Holland's talented musicians and will enrapture the audience with his compelling version of the song “Angel Eyes”.
  • In addition to his interpretation of Tommy Dorsey's hit “I'm Getting Sentimental Over You”, trombonist Maurits Woudenberg plays an unparalleled swinging solo in “On The Sunny Side Of The Street”. The guarantee for a full dance floor!

Is there a special reason that Pattaya is not included in the program?
Do your partners/wives sometimes not trust that?

@ Gringo Can be arranged, because February 30 is still free, a date that seems to exist in Thailand.
