For more than twenty years I have thoroughly enjoyed my life in Thailand, where the beautiful weather, delicious food and friendly people delight me every day.

Despite this luck, I have always felt a certain nostalgia for some typical Dutch products, especially the delicious filled cakes that I used to eat every day. A few months ago I decided to try baking these cookies myself. Thanks to the rich source of information Google provided, and with the help of my two daughters, we embarked on this adventure. Although it was a challenge to find the right ingredients, we did it, and the result was delicious, especially thanks to the excellent almond paste.

Our friends, to whom we let them taste the cookies, were very enthusiastic and asked us to bake for them too. This led to us shipping our cakes throughout Thailand a few months later, and demand grew to make more products. What was not originally intended as a commercial venture, inspired me to start an online store for our products. The goal was to build a nice business for my daughters aged 13 and 18. The positive responses were overwhelming, and our small company is growing rapidly. We now produce not only filled biscuits, but also pastry bars, Amsterdam onions, sour bombs and more, such as filled gingerbread. It is a wonderful experience to do this with my daughters.

Our products can be found on Facebook under the name “Yummy Yummy” and our webshop can be reached via http://yummyfoodsthailand.com. At the end of May we will open a store in Hua Hin on Soi 112.

Best regards,

René, Esmay and Jennifer

Thanks to the editors of Thailandblog.nl, we also hope to find resellers

Congratulations Rene, everything is very tasty. Our compliments!

  2. Ruud Kruger says up

Very good that this is available in Thailand.
But I clicked on the link and I see all prices in euros!
    Jar of pickles 199 euros????

    • Malee says up

      It really is in Bathjes….

    • Nico says up

If you translate the website into Dutch via Google Chrome, the baht sign will be changed to the euro sign!

Nice initiative, it will certainly work with those filled cookies.
I have looked at the website and if possible I would advise that on the check-out page only enable the countries that you want to ship to, all countries that are not eligible for shipping should be invisible instead of free shipping.
It seems like a small thing, but as a very experienced webshop owner I can say from experience that dear Heere has very strange boarders.

      thanks for the tip

I regret that your website is not available in Dutch.

Offer Dutch products and only the English and Thai language?
    A missed opportunity.

    • Rene Braat says up

We will change that, now all attention will be paid to the quality of the products

      • Hendrik says up

What do you mean, is the quality of the products not yet optimal?
This should be in order for a long time before you sell it online.

I wish you every success Rene, but you only start a business after everything is in order. Otherwise, your potential customers will already be leaving. Wouldn't it have been better to wait a little longer before starting now?

        • Rene Braat says up

How negative you are Hendrik, of course we have tested our products extensively before offering them, what I meant to say is a constant search for EVEN better ingredients, etc.
we now only use the highest possible quality
We have found almost 100 customers in a short time and we receive compliments every day
          about the taste and deliveries
          MVG Rene

          • Johnny says up

            Dear Rene,

            I understand Hendrik's response above.

You say yourself that you are working on improving the quality of the products, even though sales have already started. I also had some questions about that.

Maybe you should be a little clearer when you post something. This has nothing to do with negativity. You're causing a bit of the confusion yourself.

Good luck with your new business!

Just paid via ING for 2 bankket bars & 4 filled cookies €53,87……wtf

    • Kris says up

Haha Ed, the amount in € should be slightly lower, now that the THB has fallen in value this week.

It is indeed a hefty price 😉
      But give it a try.

  6. Matthias says up

Sorry for the comment, but the website looks a bit old-fashioned.

    And maybe a tip:
If you want to sell specialties from Holland, the homepage of the website should at least be in Dutch (or at least the Dutch language choice).

    • Rene Braat says up

We will definitely do that now that we pay full attention to the quality of our products

  7. Peterdongsing says up

I went to the website full of expectations, expecting lots of goodies from the pastry range.
Unfortunately only filled cookies and almond bar.
Leftover filled jars with no pastry goodies.
Several have already said that the website should also be in Dutch.

  8. Arjen says up

I can assume that Dutch people who are in Thailand, and even live there, have no problem with the English language.

So I can very well imagine that Rene's priority is not there...

    Arjen.

  9. bennitpeter says up

What is everyone talking about, open the site and Google pops up to see if it should be translated into Dutch.
Click Dutch and tada, Dutch. Can you read Dutch?
And if not automatically, go to the 3 ball browser (top right) and use the “translate” button.
And yes, money sign is also translated, just switch back to Thai or English for the real price.
At the end, the “total costs” will be given in Baht. Even though 40 euros has been translated as shipping costs again. But the final amount is baht again.
And your basket again contains the indication in euros. Could be better, perhaps with some parameters.
And so does Billing Data, where it is mixed up again. I can't go any further.
Read in Dutch, write down and place order in English. You do know English, right?
But to improve, I would put the website with multiple languages at the top left or a pull list of languages, because then the currency remains at baht. This way you avoid losing customers due to this nonsense, because it is not correct. It MUST be reliable and not show changing currencies, then you will lose.
Good luck René, Esmay and Jennifer

    • Bram says up

Everyone has their own opinion Pieter and we respect that, don't we?

If I, as a Dutch-speaking user, see a nice advertisement about Dutch delicacies, then I can assume that when I visit the website, I can view the information in my own familiar language? And this WITHOUT having to translate yourself via translation machines.

You do know English, right? What a nonsensical comment. No, I don't need to know English. If the owner of the shop wants to reach his own compatriots, he could at least offer our national language. He did make the effort to translate everything into Thai and English.

I appreciate this initiative, but when I see the currency website switching from Euro to Baht every now and then, this is anything but professional. If you're posting something online to make money, at least make sure everything works properly. If not, your customers will simply stay away.

I obviously wish this entrepreneur every success, and I would also wish it for myself. But the way everything is offered now, you don't attract customers with that. I have the impression that all this was put together quickly in order to get started quickly. There is still a lot of work to be done (including the complete layout).

And as always, criticism doesn't always have to be bad. You can learn from that too!

    • KhunTak says up

Bennietpieter, I think you are exaggerating. First criticize the responses and then you tell us what can be changed. Good action.

If you want to offer a product or products, an easy-to-use and well-secured website is a must.
Languages, as much as you want, is a matter of a few minutes and voila.
Not everyone is able to fully understand or speak the English language.
I think your products are too expensive, but maybe I am a frugal Dutch person in this area.
Still, I would like to wish you the best of luck and may it succeed.

To my surprise, a small shop recently opened in the lobby of my condo building where, among other things, fresh syrup waffles are made and very tasty. They are in great demand.
They pronounce it as zetroopwaffels and it is also in the literal Dutch test on their shop window.

    • Chris de Boer says up

These have been for sale in Amazon coffee shops for quite some time.

      • Rob V says up

Imported factory goods are quite different from freshly baked. On Facebook I have also seen several shops located in Thailand that offer fresh stroopwafels. These syrup waffles from the Netherlands are not only for sale at Amazon, but also at the bakery department of the Makro in Khon Kaen, among others. The Makro sells them in sets of 10 or so, I'll say from memory.

Isn't it nice that Dutch people who want a (fresh) filled cake or stroopwafel and the like can buy them in Thailand?

    • Jonathan says up

Haha Niek, as we all already know, the Thais are specialists in copying anything and everything. If they think they can make money with it, they start a shop.

It wouldn't surprise me if a similar initiative will soon be started among your neighbors 🙂

Ordered 10 pack of 4 packed cookies yesterday. I wanted to know whether the shipping costs were really free (I live near Korat) and whether it was possible to freeze the cookies. I sent an email to Rene and I received an immediate response almost immediately with an affirmative answer to both questions. Ordering via the website worked fine and I immediately received an email with confirmation and payment options. I paid immediately, I have an account with the Bangkok Bank. And the price, 4 biscuits for 199 baht, which, when converted into euros, is approximately 1.25 euros each. I looked on the site of a number of pastry shops in the Netherlands and the price there is at least 1,50 per piece. The price of Rene's cookies is therefore perfectly fine. I hope that when the store opens, more types of cookies will be made, including stroopwafels. Of course, cakes with cream are not possible, the heat during shipping is disastrous. But if I have more ideas I will not hesitate to email Rene.

    • Rene Braat says up

Thank you Dirk, we are very busy but next week we will start with the filled gingerbread with almond paste at the request of customers
Send me ideas about new products, we appreciate it and will do our best
      MVG Rene

      • Wim says up

Dear Rene, as a Belgian I have always admired the Dutch for their enormous gift for criticizing and judging other people's actions according to the motto: see the speck in the other person's eye, but not the beam in his own eye. So let go of that comment and focus on what you have in front of your eyes: delivering quality. Now that I have read that I can freeze the cookie, I am going to order some, and I am looking forward to the filled gingerbread later this month. Compliment for your initiative and good luck with your business.
By the way, I looked up what a filled cookie costs in the Dutch store: significantly higher price than the 50 ThB you charge. https://www.supermarktscanner.nl/product-vergelijken/gevulde%20koek

  12. Rene Braat says up

    Thank you Wim
We don't understand why some readers criticize a few things that are not optimal
We have had enormous success with our products and are very proud of the many compliments
We know that the webshop was created by someone else and it is not quite right yet
We are now looking for a positive person who can help us with the webshop
We also have Dutch text for Dutch people who have problems with the English language
added to the Dutch products ……we
    we try our best
    Kind regards, Rene
