Where in Bangkok can I buy oliebollen?
Dear readers,
Can someone tell me where I can buy oliebollen in Bangkok. We are there on New Year's Eve and I would love to let my wife and daughters taste real oliebollen.
If I had the chance I would make them myself, but that is not possible this time.
I like to hear.
Regards,
Peter

Take to the streets early in the morning and look for a stall selling Patongkoh.
Ask if they can also make them in the shape of balls especially for you.
Serve them with icing sugar and I don't think your wife and daughters will taste the difference with real oliebollen.
PS. You can also take raisins to the stall and have them mixed with the batter.
Chris, good tip, we'll try that. Happy new year.
Well,
Very clever Chris,
I will also do this in Chiang Mai, I will certainly bring raisins, but put them in water overnight.
I have sometimes found them in the MBK on the bottom floor, but that was 2 years ago now, I do not know if they still sell them there around Christmas time
You could try it on the corner of Suhkumvit soi 19. There used to be a Hollandfds restaurant there. I don't know if it's still there. But, just drop by. At least Dutch food. So just ask.
Good luck, gr.Johan van Leeuwen

At the Patpong market, the street where the Montien hotel is, I believe it is Suriwong road, a hotel with a bakery, they also sell Christmas bread there, we found oliebollen, of course you have to pay for them, and there is also a coffee shop.
Buying oliebollen in Thailand is no problem. I make them myself on grandmother's recipe. With currants and raisins. You can buy everything you need for this at Makro. Last year I baked oliebollen and I had to be quick because they were gone before I could taste one myself. Flour and yeast and the other things you need do not have to come from the Netherlands. So if you need oliebollen I will bake them for you as a takeaway restaurant in Salaya. Let me know how many and when you need them. Let me know. Greetings Arie Ros from Salaya.
