Dear readers,

My wife and I have bought land in Maha Sarakham. This land needs to be filled with soil, because it is still a paddy field.

What is the approximate price per cubic meter for the fill soil? And how much can a normal truck in that region hold? I assume it is red fill soil.

Yours faithfully,

Iron

    Hi,

Hopefully someone else has a better answer but I paid 5 per truck 300 years ago and 2 350 years ago. I know most people pay 400 per truck now but a lot depends on where and when. Also you have to count something like 35 baht per truck to make it smooth. Those trucks only put down piles. For 1 rai you have to go a long way with 200k. I had my soil dumped 2m above the rice field, it always sinks a bit and never want to have wet feet.
    Success.

    Dear Fer,
In Thailand land is often sold by truck – a truck costs (in the Phimai region) between 350 and 450 baht – depends on negotiating, transport distances, etc. It is best to inquire in your region about the prices there.
A chair, a table and some refreshments are useful on site, it is best to be present at the delivery to check the number of delivered loads yourself.

    Fer,
this is highly dependent on the environment, availability, distance and quantity.
can vary from 350 -500 thb per small truck. (5 m2) usually leveling is included in the price.
By the way, this is not a question to ask a farang because they are usually overcharged.

Have your wife or her family ask around, every hamlet usually has a haulier or ground worker, the season can also have an effect.

Another possible option is to excavate part of your own plot to fill in your building plot.

    Dear Fer,

My Swiss friend, who lives near Ubon Ratchathani, bought a quarter rai of land.
This had to be raised and then allowed to "settle" for a few years.
He had found a company that would deliver the soil for 400 bth per loading platform.
He noticed that there was actually very little soil in the truck bed, compared to the neighbors.
There was almost twice as much soil on it. The same truck though.
He told that the construction value supplier. The answer: “they pay more”

    Land is actually free.

However, the operating costs of the supplier, including truck depreciation, fuel maintenance, more for longer distances, personnel, storage for idle hours, etc., have an impact.
Also, a regular customer is cheaper than a one-time customer, and lastly your attitude when you ask the price! But as a farang you always have to pay the Robinhood surcharge.
If your Thai wife has a friend who is the neighbor of such a supplier, it could easily save her half if she, that friend, asks the price including the kaa naam, tip.
In our village there are 2 competitors… one with a small truck and the other with a big one; so for large quantities, the big truck or for smaller… the small truck. The man with the small truck sometimes accepts orders for which he has to drive twice as often and uses more fuel, but can still earn a living because of his written-off car.

    Live in Roi Et

Here the prices vary. 320 thb per truck, about 3.5 m3
Where I live 160 thb per truck.

Now is the right time for soil.
I advise you to go to the mayor in your village and ask for land. He can certainly help you.
Now that the rice has just come off, many people are having land dug up and a lot of sand is becoming available. If it is close to your land, it costs a lot less than if it is further away.
    And always negotiate.
A price for finishing everything. Your wife would be best off negotiating alone or contacting you by phone. With a farang it will quickly cost more

    Succes
