Dear readers,

Despite all (announced) entry relaxations, it is not clear to me what the consequences are for adults and accompanying children if they test positive on arrival? As in appropriate cases:

  • All (parents and child) test positive. Assume that all will then be locked up in a hospital? Is this all separate or child with parents in 1 room?
  • Parents test positive, but child negative. Will parents and child be separated?
  • Child tests positive, but parents negative. Will the child be admitted to a hospital separated from its parents?

Can someone provide me, as a concerned Grandpa, with sound information about this?

Thanks in advance.

Regards,

Herman V

A case was reported in Asean Now.
Family , husband, wife , 2 children came to Thailand for 14 days vacation.
The man was tested positive and taken to hospital, which will cost him a considerable bill. The woman and the kids were taken to an ASQ hotel to be quarantined. Have a nice holiday.

Also keep in mind that your health insurer may not reimburse a hospital stay, because “a hospital stay is not medically necessary if the test has only been positive and there are hardly any or no complaints”.

My non-Dutch expat insurance company informed me about this. (A report from the doctor with a description of a serious illness seems desirable!)

I don't know how Dutch health insurers deal with this.

Dear readers, thank you for your comments.
My daughter-in-law has also called the NL Embassy in Bangkok and they have reported that the families are mercilessly separated when 1 or more of them test positive.
We are not going to take that risk with a 3-year-old boy!
