Visa for Thai during stopover in United Arab Emirates?
Dear readers,
I will soon be going to Thailand with my Thai girlfriend, who has a Dutch residence permit but no Dutch passport.
We are considering a stopover of a few days in Dubai and/or Abu Dhabi. As a Dutch citizen, I do not need a visa for that, but as far as I can tell, my Thai girlfriend does.
For short visas specifically for this purpose of up to 96 hours, the procedure is that these visas must be applied for with the airline concerned, i.e. Emirates or Etihad.
Does anyone have experience with this? How big is the risk that such a visa will be refused there? And you will lose all or part of the amount paid for the plane ticket.
Regards,
Lute

Dear Luit, yes experience with it. Works perfectly if you make it clear enough that she is actually leaving Dubai. So add tickets of yourself and her
Dear,
we also visited Dubai a few years ago (so my Thai wife and her daughter) for 4 days and this year we had to make a mandatory overnight stay and got the visas at the airport. Enjoy!
Dear Luit, also experienced this, 2 years ago flew from Brussels to Bkk with Emitates, so a stopover in Dubai. Inquired in advance because we (my Thai wife and I) wanted to use the opportunity for a short city trip. Took the short 96 hour transit visa via Emirates, I think it cost around €45 per person. Very simple, no problems.
