Thailand question: Reserve a seat with Thai Airways?
Posted in Reader question
Tags: Seat Guru, Seat reservation, Thai Airways International
Dear readers,
Anyone have experience how I can reserve the seat 50A or 50K at Thai Airways? These cannot be reserved on the Thai Airways site. These are apparently very good seats on Seat Guru.
Regards,
Kidney

Rene, I think you mean the plane A350 where those seats are by the emergency doors on the wing. Why you can't reserve it may have to do with the rate, but otherwise call Thai Airways?
On the layout of the seats I see that those seats do not have a seat or screen in front of them. Your dining tray is therefore in the armrest with the risk that the chair is narrower and that the armrest on the right next to you cannot be folded up. If you are built a bit wider, then you are stuck.
If it is at the emergency exit you can often not book it because they want to see if the person is flexible enough to open the door and sometimes understands the language a bit because you get information
That's partially correct..Michel..
If you have an Emergency Exit seat, Thai (TG) Crew will request that you follow Their instructions in the event of a Crash and possibly explain The Emergency Door instructions!
So yes you must be healthy from Lijf and members!
Best regards.
Dear Rene,
Open Thai Airways (TG) Website.& then go to Preferred Seat…
Your request may be granted at some additional cost!

Best regards.
When we flew with Thai for the last time in January 2020, we were two rows behind those seats at the emergency exit, I can't remember, but it could have been 52. These seats also remained unoccupied then. But just after takeoff someone sat down because he probably wanted to stretch his legs too, but a steward sent him away after talking to him for a while. Five minutes later someone else came back and now I could clearly hear the steward say he could sit there if he paid $50 extra. The person then returned to his original place and then the entire row of chairs (10 pieces) was closed with red and white ribbon so that no one could sit there. You can probably only book them with a surcharge.
Booked yesterday and was able to reserve my seat at no extra cost.
It was a completely different row, maybe that's why it went so smoothly.
Experience tells me that this is not always taken into account.
Last time I ended up getting a different chair than requested.
