Home » Reader question » Thailand reader question: Problem with Kasikorn Bank in Chiang Mai
Dear readers,
The ING Bank Brussels has stopped the operation of our bank account, without us having received any letter in this regard.
Now we have a problem with Kasikorn Bank in Chiang Mai. They cannot sign “SECTION TO BE COMPLETED BY THE FINANCIAL INSTITUTION” at the bottom of the form “application for payment to personal bank account” at their bank before ING Bank has delivered CERTIFICATE FOR BANK REFERENCE.
Are there any Belgians who have had problems with this?
Comments welcome…
Regards,
Willy (BE)

Bank Argenta stopped paying Belgian expat pensions in Thailand
He had an account with Kasikorn for more than 10 years and wanted to send his pension directly to Thailand.
Belgian pension service sent a Form to be completed by his Thai bank (Kasikorn).
Kasikorn refused to fill in that form , but a certificate of bank account against payment .
For pension purposes it had to be this form. I am a client at Bangkok bank CM and asked if they could fill out this form. No problem was their answer.
The friend then opened an account in Bangkok bank and the form was filled in nicely.
advice: go to another bank and see if you don't find a solution there (best international bank and can depend from office to office as always in Thailand)
Have the same bad experience with Kasikorn. With Krung Thai and Bkk Bank everything is possible, with Kasikorn very little. It's a pity that my 800 K is fixed there, otherwise I would have left a long time ago. And unfriendly and always different staff. No, that couch doesn't suit me.
Idk...I'm curious if my comrade will have the same thing. Also received a letter from ING, they are closing his bank account, now at the end of September. He is an uncle at the Kasikorn bank, and the form to be completed was NOT signed by the Kasikorn bank. They have drawn up a certificate. This was scanned and emailed to the Belgian pension service. It is a “Euro” account that has been newly opened at Kasikorn bank. To date, we have not received any message from the Belgian pension service, whether everything is in order, so they are transferring euros to the Thai euro account. According to another Belgian comrade, the pension service agrees with the certificate. If there is no confirmation next week, you will have to call the pension service. And yes... Argenta has also started doing this, and according to ING, other banks will follow... in other words, if they can't earn anything from you, EXIT...
My Argenta has also stopped my accounts. All my money transferred through Trans Wise.
To transfer my pension directly to Thailand, I have created a new account at Krungthai Bank. Request a form from the Belgian Pension Service to transfer the pension to a Thai bank. Have it filled in and stamped on the bank without any problem ( free of charge ) and sent back to the Pensioendienst .
Your ING bank does not have to send a form to be completed .
Dear Willy,
In the Netherlands, ALL account holders of Ned banks were informed in 2019 that no bank account could be held outside the EU by people living outside the EU.
And that you therefore had time to take steps to arrange your banking affairs on site, anywhere in the world.
Much has been written on this subject on Thailand Blog, so it seems strange to me that this is coming to you.
Because that problem also concerned the Belgians.
Dear Pear,
I have been living in Thailand for 9 years and have never received a letter from my Dutch bank (ING) that my account is being closed because I live in Thailand, I just have a postal address in the Netherlands and that works fine, even when my bank cards expire. they were neatly sent to this address, I also use this account to pay the outstanding bills in the Netherlands,
I've had a bit of trouble with ABNAMRO, but my account still exists.
I have never received a message from the RABO.
ING has canceled my account in Belgium.
I asked Kasikornbank to fill in and sign the Pension Service form and this was refused. The bank has drawn up its own form for the Pension Service. I have already forwarded this to the Pension Service for 3 weeks and this was refused by them. I have heard from a relation that the Belgian Embassy is prepared to intervene with the Pension Service or the local bank in such cases. I will first try at Bangkok Bank or Krungsri Bank to open an account there and get the form signed. If this does not work, I will request mediation from our embassy.
