Settling in Thailand and contacting experts by experience?
Dear readers
I will retire on November 1 and have serious plans to settle in Thailand. I have been coming to Thailand for about 18 years to celebrate my holidays and stay there for about four weeks. My first week I stay in Udon Thani because my girlfriend has a house there together with mother, 2 sons and a sister, then the two of us continue on our way in Thailand.
As Wednesday the 19th I will land again from The Hague with Eva Air and Air asia in Udorn. Stay in the Paradise hotel for about a week and would like to get in touch with people who live permanently in Thailand because I'm not quite sure yet about health insurance, aow, discount, visa, etc.
That's why I'm curious about the personal experiences of someone who has lived there for a while.
My email address is: [email protected]
Thanks in advance,
Regards,
Ralph

I have been living in That Phanom bordering the Mekong River for 10 years. You are welcome to contact me with all your questions. From Udon Thani 3.5 hours drive.
And I have been living in Nakhon Phanom for 10 years, also on the Mekong river (Udon – Nakhon Phanom 250 km)
Also welcome with your questionnaire.
Hello Ralph, we, my wife Thumma, son Tarik and I have been living for 12 years now in a village 45 km south-west of Udonthani. If you want to know something from an experience expert, you are very welcome.
Sincerely, Dirk van der Schaaf
Doekle knows everything about Udon and about making croquettes.
There is already a lot in the forum about these things. Health care costs were discussed extensively last week. Also WAO and Visaa.
For visa see embassy I think? Or try it in Thailand itself with a 3 month visa.
You state that you have seen a lot in and of Thailand for a long time. So I assume you are not new to this.
My choice for Thailand: If I were to live permanently in the north-east of Thailand, I would now choose Phitsanulok. Has everything for a Westerner, has several hospitals, larger shops, airport and easy bus access if necessary. When I am in Thaland, I regularly drive from a 50 km above Utaradit to Phitsanulok. The area is also not bad especially towards Phetchabun
I will be in Thailand from September 23rd. to the beginning of December and from the end of December to May. According to plan.
Have a condo in Jomtien. a double (studio and two room apartment combined). My wife has a house near Uttaradit,
I am also working on making a house ready for living (Is a new teak house that still needs to be painted and decorated) near Hua-Hin and Cha-am. About 30 minutes by car from both (slightly south-west of Cha-am and north-west of Hua-Hin.
Oh is either for rent or possibly for acquisition.
I am also renovating a house at Ramkhamhaeng 130, Is it ready for rent or for sale when it is ready.
Please email my wife if interested. [email protected]
Sorry but Phitsanulok is NOT North/East Thailand.
OK you have your way. In the NORTH but also a bit in the east of the North. Eh Eh
Okay, the city is centrally located in the KOP, the province borders Laos.
Loei in the East and Uttaradit in the North.
I'll be there Monday according to the woman. I first wanted a week in BKK then a week in JT and then to Buriraam for the motoGP. Have GP supplier cards but unfortunately woman has other ideas
Thank you very much for all your responses and I already have contact with someone who lives in Udon-Thani and that seems easier to me than 350 km away.
Thanks again Dirk Tooske and Alberto et al
