Home » Reader question » Reader question: Has anyone already received a refund from Thai Airways
Dear readers,
Is there anyone here who has already received money back from Thai Airways from the canceled flights? We normally flew from Brussels to Bangkok at the end of November 2020, but still no news about the refund.
Regards,
Mark (BE)

I received a refund of tickets via my credit card (not via THAI) and then asked for vouchers from THAI and I had them within 3 weeks.
Win win!
No.
Two flights, them and back, in May 2020 from Brussels/Bangkok (2 people).
Booked through a Thai Travel agency in Bangkok.
Lots of writing back and forth. No result. Only grumpy because it talks for often with empty promises.
I'm afraid we can write these pennies (Thai bath) on our stomach….
I got a voucher from Thaiairways vapn 530€.
Requested from the travel agency in Pattaya..and valid until the end of Dec 2022.
Hello Mark, we too are still 'happy' expectation…
hey mark,
I was able to change my flight from 2020 to a new flight Dec 2021 to February 2022 at no extra cost
I also have a 2nd canceled flight and I can use it until the end of 2022
so in fact no problems, the flight will be operated later
You should not expect a refund as they are in financial trouble
Vouchers received and perhaps against better judgment already exchanged for a return flight in 2022.
I paid with my visa card directly at Thai Airways, had contact with Thai Airways Brussels several times via email.
until the mail was no longer answered, mail overview and cancellations of flights sent to Visa, within 1 week the € 588 was deposited from Visa, not from Thai Airways.
Falls under the services not provided scheme, but you must indicate this with your visa within 1 year after booking.
trip was booked with skyscanner, via Mytrip, and that early last year in February, paid with visa, so maybe ask the bank then?
Thai Airways has been protected from its creditors by the Thai court. Thai can only survive if 50% + 1 of the creditors agree with the submitted restructuring plan. This plan also means, among other things, that the creditors agree to a drastic reduction of their outstanding claimed debt. Sorry for those who asked for their money back for canceled flights. The chance of a refund is non-existent for that the financial pit at Thai Airways is WAY too deep !!!! For customers who have opted for a voucher or postponement of a new booking, there is hope as long as Thai Airways itself does not go bankrupt!
Received money back after a year.. had booked through Trip.com for May 2020
Hi,
We were supposed to fly from Brussels to Bangkok in December 2020, but we rebooked the flight to other dates, namely December 2021 and this went flawlessly via budget Air, also received the confirmation and tickets.
My above response is only about tickets purchased directly from Thai Airways. For tickets purchased from tour operators, travel agencies…. are they themselves responsible for the refund!
We would in Nov. Fly from Brussels to Bangkok in 2020. That was already canceled by Thai airways in September, we still have not received a refund.
same problem here, at Mytrip they say it's the fault of Thai-airways, well have patience for a while?
We paid for the tickets with a credit card at the time. We got the money back through the insurance of the credit card. Despite nice promises never heard from Thai Airways again.
Just received this email: Dear,
Please be informed that THAI AIRWAYS is currently under rehabilitation proceedings through Central Bankruptcy Court in Bangkok and refunds are suspended until further notice
Rehabilitation plan has recently been accepted and procedure for refund will have to be restarted.
We hope to have more news about refunds in the coming weeks
Thanks for understanding and kind regards
Thai Airways Brussels
