Dear Sir/Madam,

We are a Dutch 65+ couple and have been wintering in Thailand for a long time. All these years of our stay in Thailand we always have/had an annual visa (non-immigration multiple 4×90 days.

Our visa is valid until October 8 this year and we want to leave in September next. We will not get a new visa because this visa has not yet expired.
My question is can we, Multiple-O 4 x 90 days, extend or convert to an OA visa in Thailand?
Question two: If we enter Thailand on this visa, will we still get 90 days even though it is about to expire?

We tried it years ago in Singapore and it was not possible then. I would also like to say that we meet all the requirements.

Please answer from people who do not have a Thai marriage because then the situation is different.

Sincerely,

Adrianus

Dear Adrian
I also regret that they do not want to issue a new visa before the old one has been used up. I have already experienced the situation in Antwerp, but my old visa was invalidated there and replaced by a new one. So it is possible if the will is there. Everyone has laws and regulations and then you get such things. Regrettably.
As for your visa. You may enter Thailand until October 8 and until that date you will get 90 days for each entry. The fact that the validity period expires on October 8 does not affect the obtained stay period of 90 days. That 8 October means that the validity period of the visa expires, not that this is the maximum period of stay. For the period of stay, you should look at the date on the “IN” stamp you receive upon entry.
For the validity period you have to look at the date on the visa. So it cannot be compared to the experiences you have in Singapore.
In the file Visa Thailand or with the 16 questions it is explained what "validity period" and "length of stay" means.
You do not say how long you want to spend the winter, but you can possibly have your visa converted to an OA. Everything depends on Immigration wanting to transpose this. Shouldn't normally be a problem. But perhaps it is better to go to an Immigration who is familiar with such applications, including Pattaya
However, I think it is easier to ask for an extension as “retired”, based on your current Non-Immigrant “O”. You can then obtain an extension of your stay for a period of one year. You say you meet all requirements so I think this is the best solution for you. By the way, it is a lot cheaper -1900 Bath- than a conversion to "OA" which I think costs 5000 Baht.
Do not forget that when you leave Thailand, you must request a re-entry otherwise your extension will expire.
I hope to have helped you with this.
Kind regards,
RonnyLatPhrao
