How wide are Thai massage couches?
Dear readers,
Maybe a strange question, but can someone tell me how wide the Thai massage benches are? No matter what I Google, I can't figure it out.
Regards,
JacS

Do you mean in physiotherapy? They are just as wide as in the Netherlands: if you are a bit solidly built, you just won't roll off. But if you have to turn around, caution is advised.
Or do you mean a classic massage parlor? There are mattresses and they are wide enough for a size more. A meter or so. Usually thin. And they lie on the ground or a platform of 50 cm high. There is a curtain between the customers for privacy.
Or do you mean a different kind of massage? Then they sometimes have a double bed on which two people can roll around. Or more than two people. And a door that closes.
Well, I think it's more a question of what you need / want to know for. Massage banks in Thailand vary enormously. From self-assembled wooden constructions to luxurious air-operated benches that can be adjusted in height and angle. Usually 80 cm wide and wider if it is DIY. With online delivery from Ali baba like delivery services you can literally have any bank in the world delivered. Of course, no fixed dimensions are required for self-construction. So again the question why do you want to know this?
The average width of the massage benches I visited was 80 cm.
Hello Jack
No concrete answer, but experience;
The width of those benches in Thailand varies. often made by a local carpenter/furniture maker. sometimes matching the dimensions of the salon, sometimes sort of standard.
For a 'normal' Western massage table, look at the dimensions of the average customer or patient. The height is more important for the one who massages and stays next to the table. But for a Thai massage it is important that the masseur is also on the table. sitting on the customer and sometimes next to the customer, kneeling, squatting is possible. And then a small and lithe |Thai lady needs a few centimeters, but a stiff and almost 2 meter tall and oversized masseur like me needs much more space to work in a relaxed way.
As a customer in Thailand, I am always most satisfied with wide tables. so often in more luxurious and 'neat' salons. I stay lying down and the massage lady can kneel to the left or right of me. On narrower tables, which I often come across, I always have to move to provide the lady with space so that she can work in a relaxed sitting position.
Succes
Those dimensions range from 80×200 to 120×200 cm
But the height also varies… massage tables for Thai massage are lower than tables for oil massage, for example.
At the massage parlors in the Netherlands, the usual size is 120 x 200
