Donation of my remains to medical science in Thailand?
Dear readers,
Because I am 75 years old and the finish line is irrevocably in sight, I have decided to donate my corpse to medical science. I think cremation is a waste. For information on how to organize this, Google was kind enough to inform me extensively. Unfortunately, my search usually ends up in Bangkok (Chalulongkorn) and as I live in Pattaya it would be most convenient to find a teaching hospital or other institution near me.
Are there readers who have personal experience in organizing such a donation? Please note: I am not talking about organ donation, but corpse donation. Practical experience with such a procedure and examples of possibly interested hospitals or universities in the area would be greatly appreciated. Possibly also with the testamentary vicissitudes regarding my Dutch family and Thai girlfriend.
Thank you in advance.
Regards,
Paco

i live in chiangrai
and obtained the documents here from my personal physician in 2004
my remains are transported refrigerated
to a hospital in Chiangmai=200km
one is very grateful for this gesture!
so you don't have to worry about it
and why would you?
so first take your last breath
and then the next of kin will do the rest
cheers!
Last year, in my village in Lamphun province, a Thai resident former teacher donated her body to the hospital.
The name of the hospital is the Sundoc state hospital, which is part of the medical faculty of medicine of Chiangmai university.
I'm considering doing the same as the contributor of this post.
At least you do something useful for humanity in your old age.
Burning 555 anyway not too hot and also all that smoke and smells of burnt flesh and for many Christians this is even worse than cursing in the church, and being buried is not everything with all those worms of beetles and termites in the ground.
But the simple question still remains, what do they do with your leftover body parts after teaching.
Burn or bury anyway, I think the Thais knowing the former.
Jan Beute.
We donated our bodies to medical science at Suan Dok Hospital in Chiang Mai. Here they told us that the leftover body parts are burned once a year. We have been to such a burning. It's a whole ceremony. The names of the deceased are announced. The next of kin can then walk to the oven. The medical students line up to pay their last respects to the deceased, on whom they have “worked”. I found it to be very respectful and impressive.
Dear, I have already tried to obtain more information about this, but I also end up at the Government hospital in Bangkok, where the remains are taken when a foreigner dies in Thailand.
There is also no information to be found on Thailandblog.nl.
I hope we can get some information through this writing.
Thanks in advance to all blog members.
