Does anyone have experience with Vipassana in Thailand?
Dear readers,
Does anyone have experience with Vipassana in Thailand and would he or she like to share this experience? Vipassana (Pāli: vipassanā) is a form of insight meditation, a simple practical remedy for universal problems. This meditation is a process of self-observation with the aim of purifying the mind to the deepest levels of negativity and impurities such as anger, hatred, greed and fear. As the influence of these becomes weaker, positive qualities such as wisdom (pañña), love, compassion, joy and equanimity naturally develop.
On the internet I see many temples offering this, but usually in Thai or they are already full.
Does anyone have experience how to tackle this?
We would like to hear comments from people who have done this themselves.
Regards,
Marius

Recommend Wat Pa Tam Wua, about 35 km from Mae Hong Son, on the road from Chiang Mai to Mae Hong Son. There is a monk, pra Anek who explains everything very clearly in good English. And the center is beautifully situated between the mountains.
Dear Marius,
In Chonburi, Wat Boonkanjanaram Meditation Center is located south of Jomtien. Popularly known as Wat Boon.
My experiences are from a few years ago, but after reading the 'new' site, not much has changed.
https://sites.google.com/view/boonkan/home
What I really appreciated is that you stay in your own simple accommodation (kuti) instead of a previous experience where you sleep in a dormitory with areas with a mattress separated by curtains.
The center provides guidance through a private lesson per day and assumes that you will study and practice (book is available). The next day you will discuss with the teacher the progress and next steps.
After 8 years and a stay of 10 days every year I have learned a lot. Unfortunately the teacher Khun Vitoon passed away.
If you would like more information, my email address is available from the editors.
Good luck with your search, Arjan
Thank you for the information, I will check out the websites and choose one of these two for a retreat later this year.
