Complaints about Thai Airways
Dear readers,
We booked a ticket, my husband and I, with Thai Airways on July 29 to Bangkok from BXL in February . jl. And afterwards a domestic flight from Bangkok to Krabi and 2 hotels. So 2 weeks vacation.
Now I received 4 emails from Thai Airways last Friday, May 13, that the flights are both 1 day early. With apologies. No idea why, but serious consequences. Domestic flight lost and the hotels have to change.
Thai Airways cannot be reached only by email. I am very disappointed with the way things are going! Why is this happening?
Regards,
Valerie and Jan

Why is this happening? Well, such a question has already been discussed here many times and is easy to answer: The airlines have no choice but to make their flights profitable by filling them up as much as possible. You don't need to look for more.
I don't understand why you reflect this as a complaint, this has nothing to do even with Thai Airways. In another topic (about KLM) people complain about the same thing.
I fear that the time of flying to Thailand for a while with a half-full flight may be over for good. It's annoying, of course, but not dramatic, right?
I have already said it a number of times on various forums, but for me 1 x Thai Airways but never again, what a bad airline. Lost luggage, no communication at all and suddenly after a week my suitcase was suddenly there, without any excuse and that while I was entitled to a decent compensation according to their own conditions, but of course that never came. And Kris's reaction is also ridiculous as if everyone should take into account that decairline can just start determining your holiday. You are the one who pays and therefore determines, this will not happen quickly with other companies.
Domestic flight lost and the hotels have to change.
It seems that Valerie and Jan have lost their domestic flight money.
At least that's how I read it, because it says domestic flight LOST, where the hotel says "have to change".
And that would of course be annoying.
Maybe the Thai can arrange that?
Or travel insurance?
Ridiculous answer Kris. There is little positive to report about the airline, its worthless service, has been discussed here many times. It can't be the case that the airline determines when you fly?? Then they must indicate this when booking. People have holidays making other commitments such as hotels and other flights. Because Thai Airways cannot fill their flight, the passengers are allowed to pay the bill themselves? This is of course too crazy for words. You may not be bound by time, but most people are. Just outrageous and then no one can be reached. Let this be another lesson learned. Do not fly with Thai Airways a piece of misery. For example, take (are there several) Emirates. Then you are simply sure that your flight will depart and arrive on the day that is successful.
Do not fly with Thai Airways, do not fly with KLM, do not fly with Finnair and there are some others.
Maybe we should just stay home and all the problems will be solved immediately.
I am quite old and have traveled all my life and not only to Thailand. I can't keep count of the number of flights whose airlines changed flight schedules at the time. This is indeed not fun but often understandable, whatever we think of it.
Complaining on a blog is not good for your mental health and will only make it worse. Be happy that you can go on vacation, there are many who don't have the means for it.
Had the same with Finnair, the flight for July 9 has already been changed 5 times in terms of schedule. Had also chosen this one because of the good departure times, but there is nothing left of that.
I accept everything but otherwise I can cancel and lose many thousands of € more!
My flight costs including luggage for 2 persons and child €1623.
If I book the same trip now, I will lose more than € 3500 due to higher fuel costs and the like!
So don't complain and just be flexible, you have no other choice.

As far as I know, Thai does not fly to Bxl every day. It may well be that the 'airport slot' has been changed due to eg no space on the hour/day of the planned flight. arrival. Excessive traffic along Ukraine could also be an explanation. Just saying that my ankle wants to fly with full flights is a pity. In deluchtvaart there are rules regarding 'scheduled flights' that you cannot simply change/adapt.
It is of course a pity that your planning has been messed up!

Although many people have been thinking for months that the pandemic and its consequences are already behind us, we are still reminded to remain flexible with bookings.
Many airlines that do not get their planes fully booked, can divert from a nonstop flight, to a collective flight with a stopover, or even choose another flight date.
That is why people have long been pointing to the possibility of free rebooking or even cancellation, and you also see the same possibilities at hotels.
You could perhaps send an email for connecting flights and hotels in Thailand, with the indication that you are forced to rebook, and wait and see what they will charge for these rebooking costs.
I wouldn't wait too long with this, because apart from this you also have to arrange at home that you have to leave a little earlier, this is actually your only option, if you want to fly at least.
In addition to my response above, you could also stay 1 night longer in Bangkok, so that you do not have to change the flights to Krabi, and also the Hotel in Krabi.
An extra night in Bangkok and a taxi to the airport the next day for your flight to Krabi seems to me to be the cheapest and perhaps the most favorable solution.
Here the same Etihad 2x flight rescheduled..
Even though hotels have been booked, emailing or calling the hotel certainly helps, dates could be moved with me.
Domestic flight will be with AirAsia or Bangkok-Air, I assume, you can reach them via a chat and change the data for a small fee.

Did I also have a day early from my holiday in January from Sunday to Saturday, reason I don't know?
I experienced the same thing but in reverse. The plane left 1 day later and my hotel was also booked.
Asked to stay a day longer in the hotel but that did not compensate for the day I was late. Reimbursement of that one day was also not possible. That is Thailand. After a few times you get used to it. They think completely differently from us.
Going a day earlier is no problem anyway.
Book a night in Bangkok and fly your domestic flight the next day
Also do you have domestic flight from yhai airways?
If you are in bangkok let thai aorways arrange it.
I think that won't be a problem.
Ben
bangkok = Bangkok (2x), with a capital letter.
… domestic flight ends with a period (.)
yhai airways (?), probably Thai Airways.
thai aorways (?) , probably also thai airways …
People, people, read your epistles before you hit the send button!
Of course this is a complaint. You bought something that is unilaterally changed, without giving a decent reason.
But take comfort, I now have the seventh change of my KLM flight!!
Yes, unfortunately I agree with Kris for you.
It can be read everywhere that the flights to Thailand are only half full or even less occupied.
That there can be an adjustment, you have to understand and accept, at least I think.
Can't you also do a domestic flight on the day itself if you want to continue flying? There are always enough places around this time, and the domestic flights don't cost much to worry about that now, too bad, but that doesn't have to negatively affect your holiday. Take it as it comes and you will have a nice holiday.
Just solve it positively and look forward.
And if you want to speak Thai Airways, call the office in Bangkok if you are not afraid to bear these costs, of course it costs a little extra, but you will get in touch.
We have flown 3 x from AMS and BRU in the last 3 years, several adjustments here too, so be it. You have to take that into account in this time, we think it's fine and adapt without mugs.
@Kris, With all due respect, but what kind of nonsense is that response...... You are entering into an agreement with a company that knows very well what they are doing and what service they are selling.
It is very easy to change that unilaterally because it suits society better.
This way you can straighten out everything….including transfers etc.
Is just nonsense… you have an agreement and it must be respected.
The consequences for a joke with a few children can indeed be very great, and spoil the holiday fun .... a highly undesirable situation, which should not be tolerated.
You may be right in theory, but I wish you the best of luck in today's “reality”. You will not be able to enforce anything at all and I would not be surprised that such matters are now simply included in the general terms and conditions that apply to the booking.
Why is this a nonsense comment?
The topic starter asks why this is happening and Kris neatly answers.
He admits honestly that this is indeed annoying.
So do you think this is all bullshit? I don't understand your logic.
I don't think it's fair to take your frustrations out on Kris.
What kind of comment is this Kris?
Annoyingly not dramatic. Of course this is dramatic
You have planned your holiday. Taken days off. Hotels Arranged.
I think it's disgusting that they do this. scandalous
I would not accept this Valeria and Jan
I always buy my tickets months in advance and then they don't have to set the date just before departure
change, you can't!
Thai airways customer service tel: 020-5141810
You know what's dramatic? When you arrive at the airport and find that your flight has been canceled and the next flight does not leave until the next day and there is not enough room left to rebook everyone.
I also fully understand that, after the disastrous Corona year, the companies are doing everything they can to stay financially afloat. What can Kris do about that now?
The fact that departure times and days change is not something that is just now emerging. This has always existed. And for every problem there is a solution.
Thai Airways has probably canceled one or more flight days (summer schedule) so that they have adjusted this flight data. This will mainly be due to the fact that the aircraft on those day(s) are not sufficiently full or do not sit down. Unfortunately, this phenomenon has occurred with many airlines since corona and is not unique to TA.
Two months ago, our return flight from Bangkok to Brussels (originally early September 2022) was also canceled (flight day deleted) and brought forward almost 5 days. That was quite a restriction on a 3-week holiday. Even then I looked for a new alternative to be able to fly back to Brussels on the original day, but this time via a short stop-over in Munich (1 hour). I was willing to do that instead of a 5-day shorter holiday. Emailed this alternative to TA-Brussels and within 1 week my flight was rebooked free of charge to my own preference via Munich. This while this combi flight with Lufthansa was a lot at that time (we are 4 people). So would say just try it! Unfortunately, it is indeed “annoying” that this cannot be arranged by telephone (or you have to call the TA service center in Bangkok, but that will be very expensive).
I don't mind if you have to go a day early
You just book an extra day in bkk and then you can do everything the same, so no canceled flight
Enjoy life l
It is striking that there are so many travelers here who can understand the airlines and thus try to shift the problem to the traveler.
That is of course the upside down world.
All those airlines know what the problems are that have arisen during the plandemic.
You set the SERVICE to that, for the customer.
It cannot be the case that this customer is unilaterally expected to understand the changes.
Where is the respect and understanding for the customer, who wants to enjoy his trip and holiday and is not faced with extra costs or changes at the very last minute.
People can complain about anything, regardless of right or wrong (service or no service), but everyone knows that there are still uncertainties in the aviation sector at the moment. But also in other sectors. And this comes with some risk and uncertainty. A matter of accepting and trusting that everything will turn out well with the planned holiday. And otherwise another year of “watching the cat out of the tree”…. You can make a fuss about it, but it is what it is. If Thailand were to decide to suddenly start implementing all covid measures (such as mandatory quarantine) again, would you also complain to the Thai government?? People know what times we live in right now!
